Yummy Oatmeal Creme Pie Cake Recipe: Get the Classic Taste with This Easy Baking Guide.

Okay, so I tried to make that oatmeal creme pie cake, you know, the one that’s supposed to taste like those Little Debbie snacks. I’ve always loved those things, so I figured, why not try to make a whole cake that tastes like them?

First, I gotta say, finding the ingredients was a bit of a scavenger hunt. I mean, I thought I had everything, but then realized I was out of molasses. Seriously, who runs out of molasses? Anyway, I had to make a quick trip to the store.

Getting Started

  • I gathered all the stuff I needed, like the usual suspects: flour, sugar, eggs, and butter.
  • Then there was the oatmeal, of course. I used the old-fashioned kind, not the instant stuff. Figured it would give the cake a better texture.
  • And then the spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg…the usual suspects.

I started by mixing the dry ingredients. Flour, oatmeal, baking soda, and the spices. I whisked them all together in a big bowl. I always make a mess whenever I do this part. Flour went flying everywhere, but that is part of the fun right?

Next, I creamed together the butter and sugar in a separate bowl. I used my electric mixer for this. I wanted the mixture to be light and fluffy. I guess that is how you get a cake soft.

Then I added the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. After that, I poured in the molasses. That stuff is sticky! It took some effort to get it all out of the measuring cup.

Putting It All Together

Slowly, I added the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. You don’t want to overmix it, otherwise the cake can get tough. I learned that the hard way in the past. Once it was all mixed, I poured the batter into a greased and floured cake pan. I used a 9×13 inch pan.

Then it was time for the oven. I baked it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes. But it’s important to check it with a toothpick. When the toothpick comes out clean, it’s done. And the smell was amazing! I love the smell of cinnamon and baking.

The Creme Filling

While the cake was cooling, I made the creme filling. This was the fun part. I just beat together some butter, powdered sugar, marshmallow fluff, and a little bit of vanilla extract. I beat it until it was smooth and creamy. If you are into sweets this will make you want to lick the bowl clean.

Once the cake was completely cool, I spread the creme filling all over the top. It was a bit of a challenge, not gonna lie. That filling is thick, but I got it to spread evenly.

The Verdict

Finally, it was time to try it! I cut myself a big slice, and you know what? It was pretty good! It really did taste like an oatmeal creme pie, but in cake form. It was moist, flavorful, and that creme filling was just the icing on the cake, literally.

I’d definitely make this again. Maybe next time, I’ll try to make individual little cakes instead of one big one. That would be cute, right? Anyway, if you’re a fan of oatmeal creme pies, you gotta try this recipe. It’s a bit of work, but totally worth it in the end.

I noticed that the one I made at home is a little bit larger than the one you can get at the store, so maybe I need to cut it down next time to get the size right.

You know, baking isn’t as hard as it looks. It is just a lot of mixing and waiting. This one time in high school, my baking soda was expired. I had to go to my neighbor’s house to borrow some. What a mess.

I am still trying to figure out how to get the cake to be softer. Maybe next time I will try a different recipe. Overall, it was a success, I shared it with my coworkers. They all loved it, and even asked for the recipe!

By the way, do not use your hands to mix the ingredients. I know it is tempting but it will make your hands really dirty. I learned that the hard way, when I was a kid. If you use your hands, you will get batter all over your hands. Just get a mixer or a big spoon. You will thank me later.

I do not know how many calories this has, so do not ask! I feel like it has a lot of sugar in it.

I saw a lot of people online adding raisins to the recipe, but I am not a big fan of raisins, so I skipped it. But you can give it a try, if you are into that.

Well, that’s all for now! Time for me to eat this cake! I will update again next time, when I try out another recipe. Maybe a pie next time, who knows!
