Alright, let’s gab about this matcha cake thing in New York City. You city folks got all sorts of fancy names and places, makes my head spin, but lemme tell ya what I know, the simple way, ya hear?
Now, they got this stuff called matcha. Green powder, looks like grass clippings, but they say it’s good for ya. Folks in Japan, they been usin’ it for ages, puttin’ it in everything from tea to cakes. And now, it’s all the rage in the big city, even in places like, uh, what was it…New York City? Yep, that’s the one.

Heard tell there’s a bunch of places sellin’ matcha cake. One place, called Cha Cha Matcha, they got a bunch of spots all over. Sound like a dance, don’t it? Cha Cha Cha. Anyways, they make all sorts of stuff, from cold drinks outta this matcha stuff to somethin’ they call matcha cheesecake. Sounds airy, like if you breathe too hard, it might just float away! I reckon that’s why them city folk like it so much, always chasin’ after things they can barely hold onto.
Then there’s this other place, Keki Modern Cakes, or somethin’ like that. And Takahachi Bakery, Lady Wong, and a whole bunch more. Heck, even got a place called Bibble and Sip. Sounds like somethin’ a baby would do, bibble and sip, but I guess they make this here matcha cake too. Too many fancy names, if you ask me. Back in my day, cake was cake, and that was that.
- Cha Cha Matcha: They’re all over the place, folks say. Lots of matcha stuff, not just cake.
- Keki Modern Cakes: The name’s a mouthful, ain’t it? But they got this matcha cake that people seem to like.
- Takahachi Bakery, Lady Wong, Patisserie Tomoko: More fancy places with fancy names, all makin’ this green cake.
- Bibble & Sip: Silly name, but they’re in the mix too. Gotta be somethin’ to it if everyone’s makin’ it, right?
- Cha-An: Another one of them spots. Folks like their matcha stuff too.
- Angelina Bakery: Sounds classy, like a place for them highfalutin folks. Guess they got matcha cake too.
Now, I heard tell some folks like eatin’ this matcha stuff in the summer ’cause it’s supposed to be good for ya. Keeps ya healthy, or so they say. Makes sense I guess, summer’s hot, and you need somethin’ to cool ya down. And if it tastes good, well that’s a bonus, ain’t it?
One fella, or maybe it was a gal, mentioned somethin’ called “straight outta Japan” at a place. Had some black sesame and matcha ice cream with them little chewy things, whatchamacallits…mochi! Sounds interestin’, but I’m stickin’ to cake for now. Ice cream’s good, but cake’s better, specially if it’s got that matcha stuff in it, I reckon.
So there you have it, my take on this matcha cake in New York City. A bunch of places makin’ it, lots of folks eatin’ it, and it’s all about that green powder they call matcha. If you’re in the city, give it a try. Who knows, you might just like it. And if you don’t, well, more for the rest of them city folks, right?
Now, if you’ll excuse me, all this talk about cake has made me hungry. Gonna go find myself somethin’ sweet, maybe even somethin’ with that matcha stuff in it. You never know ’til you try, I always say.
And remember, whether it’s from a place with a fancy name or a place with a silly name, cake is cake. But if you want to be fancy like them New Yorkers, call it matcha cake, and pretend you know what you’re talkin’ about. That’s what they do, I reckon.
