Okay, so I’ve been trying to eat a little healthier lately, and I decided to give Carr’s Whole Wheat Crackers a shot. I’d seen them at the store a bunch of times, but never really grabbed them. Here’s how it went.
The Hunt
First, I had to actually find the things. My usual grocery store is kind of a mess, so I wandered around the cracker aisle for a good five minutes. They weren’t with the fancy cheese and stuff, and they weren’t with the super-processed snacks either. Finally, I spotted them kind of in the middle, with some other “healthier” options.

The Examination
Once I had the box in hand, I did the usual label check. I’m not super strict about ingredients, but I like to have some idea of what I’m eating. The ingredient list seemed pretty straightforward – whole wheat flour, some oil, a little salt. Nothing too crazy jumped out at me. I also noticed the “whole grain” stamp, which is always a plus.
The Taste Test
Okay, the important part. I ripped open the box as soon as I got home. The crackers themselves are pretty big and square, kind of thin and crispy. My first thought? They’re definitely…wheaty. I mean, that’s the point, right? But they have a really strong, almost nutty flavor. Honestly, they’re not super exciting on their own.
The Experimentation
Since plain crackers weren’t really doing it for me, I decided to try some toppings. Here’s what I did:
- Cheese: Classic. I grabbed some cheddar and sliced it up. This was a winner. The sharpness of the cheese balanced out the wheat flavor of the cracker.
- Hummus: Another good one. The creamy hummus and the crunchy cracker were a nice combo. I sprinkled on some paprika for extra flavor.
- Peanut Butter: Okay, this was kind of weird. I’m a huge peanut butter fan, but it just didn’t work with these crackers. The flavors clashed.
- Avocado: I am a big fan of Avocado, spread it on top. it was a perfect match!
The Verdict
So, would I buy Carr’s Whole Wheat Crackers again? Probably. They’re not my favorite cracker in the world, but they’re a decent healthy option. I definitely need to eat them with something else, though. They’re just too plain on their own. But with cheese or hummus, they’re a solid snack. They’re great vessel for the other flavor!
