Where can you find a truly reliable honey weight chart? Use our complete guide for standard measures.

Okay, so I messed around with making a “honey weight chart” thingy. Here’s how it went down.

First off, the problem: I was always guesstimating how much honey I had left in different jars. Super annoying, especially when trying to figure out if I needed to order more.

The Brainstorm: I figured, “Hey, weight is weight!” I could just weigh the darn jars and use that to figure out the amount of honey inside. That’s how the honey weight chart idea popped up in my head.

Getting Started: I grabbed a bunch of empty honey jars, all different sizes (because I’m not organized like that). I used my kitchen scale, the cheap-o kind, and carefully noted the weight of each empty jar. Wrote it all down in a notebook – yeah, old school!

Filling ‘Em Up: Next, I filled those jars with water, making sure to fill to the top, because that’s how I measure honey. Then again, weighed each one. More notes.

Doing the Math (Ugh): Alright, this was the tedious part. I had to subtract the empty jar weight from the full-of-water weight to get the weight of just the water. Now, I know a pint’s a pound the world around, but things change with honey. So I needed the weight of water and honey to compare.

Honey Time: Emptied all the water, dried the jars. Then, I carefully filled each jar with honey. Weighed them again. More subtraction – this time empty weight from the honey filled weight to get the weight of the honey alone.

Chart Creation: I used the info I gathered and created a table in a spreadsheet. First column was jar type/size, second was weight of empty jar, third was the filled with water weight, fourth was the filled with honey weight.

Putting It to Use: Now when I want to know how much honey I’ve got, I just pop the jar on the scale, check the weight, and refer to my chart! It’s not perfect, but it’s way better than guessing.

Lessons Learned:

  • A better scale would be nice. The kitchen one is okay, but something more precise would be awesome.
  • Maybe I should just stick to one type of jar. Would make things easier. Probably not gonna happen though.
  • This whole thing took way longer than I thought it would.

Would I do it again? Probably not. But hey, at least now I have a honey weight chart! Hopefully, this helps someone else with their honey-hoarding habits.
