Okay, so I had this idea to make some homemade donuts. You know, the fluffy kind with powdered sugar all over them. I had all the ingredients except for the confectioners’ sugar, which is, like, the most important part for that classic look and sweetness.
So, I grabbed a box of regular sugar and thought, “Why not? I can totally make this myself.” I mean, how hard could it be, right? I dumped some sugar into my trusty old blender. It’s seen better days, honestly, but it usually gets the job done.

My “Brilliant” Process
- Poured about a cup of regular granulated sugar into the blender.
- Turned the blender on. Initially to low, but nothing that seem good so i turned to high.
- Waited for, like, a minute, maybe more. It was making this awful screeching sound.
- Stopped the blender and check on the sugar.
At the end, I will say, it didn’t really, exactly, resemble store-bought confectioners’ sugar. It was finer than regular sugar, for sure, but not that super-fine, powdery consistency I was going for. more like.. coarse sand. Also, the blender started to smell a little weird. A warm electric burning smell that wasn’t super comforting.
Anyway,i tried to get a nice smooth texture by blend them a little more, but i gave up.
I sprinkled it on the donuts anyway. They still tasted pretty good, even if they looked a little… rustic. I might just stick with the store stuff next time though.
