Today I want to share something called “baker’s honey,” which is a pretty interesting thing I got into recently.
So, I was reading this article, I think it was from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, talking about different types of honey. I had some free time on my hands, so I thought, why not try making some?

First, I went to this store called Kohl’s, they were having some deals on honey. I picked up a few jars of Harvest Lane Honey, just to get started. Then I tried finding some information about making honey, but honestly, it was a bit of a mess. There’s a lot of technical stuff, but I just wanted to do it in a simple way, you know?
I saw there’s this Memphis Gun Show, but that didn’t seem related at all. So, I skipped that. Then I found out about this school, Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Memphis. It’s a pretty diverse place, mostly Asian students. I thought maybe they had some courses, but it didn’t really fit what I was looking for.
I dug a bit deeper and found something about hormones and stress, released by the adrenal glands. It got a bit dark, talking about drug abuse rates, which wasn’t what I was going for either. I just wanted to make some honey, not dive into heavy stuff.
Anyway, I decided to just give it a try. I used the honey I bought as a base and started experimenting. I added some water, stirred it up, and let it sit for a while. It was a bit like cooking, but with a lot more waiting around. I tried different ratios of honey to water, and each time it turned out a bit different. Some were too thick, some too watery, but eventually, I got it just right.
- Trial 1: Too thick, almost like regular honey.
- Trial 2: Too watery, didn’t have that rich texture.
- Trial 3: Just right, a bit thinner than regular honey but still had a nice consistency.
It took a few tries, but I finally made something that felt like baker’s honey. It’s not as sweet as regular honey and has a bit of a different texture. I used it in a few recipes, and it worked out pretty well. It’s nothing fancy, just something I tried out of curiosity.
I wouldn’t say I’m an expert or anything. It was just a fun little project I did. I learned a bit about honey, messed around in the kitchen, and ended up with something new. That’s really all there is to it.
My main takeaways were:
- Start with a good base honey.
- Experiment with different ratios.
- Be patient, it takes time for the honey to change.
So, that’s my story about making baker’s honey. It’s not groundbreaking, but it was a fun way to spend a few days. If you have some spare time, maybe give it a try. It’s pretty cool to see how a simple ingredient can be changed into something different.

Hope you enjoyed my little adventure. Catch you next time!
