Top Silicone Cake Mold Recipes: Creative Ideas for Every Occasion (Get Baking Today)

Okay, so I’ve been seeing these super cute cakes made with silicone molds all over Instagram, and I had to try it. I’m no pro baker, but I figured, how hard could it be? Turns out, it’s not that hard, but there are definitely some things I learned along the way. Here’s my little adventure:

Getting Started

First, I bought a silicone cake mold. I went for a simple rose shape, because, you know, aesthetics. I also grabbed a basic cake mix from the store – I wasn’t feeling brave enough to make one from scratch this time. Plus, I picked up some cooking spray to make sure the cake wouldn’t stick.

The Baking Process

  • I preheated my oven according to the cake mix instructions. Usually around 350°F, I think.
  • Then, I really sprayed the heck out of that silicone mold with the cooking spray. I made sure to get into every little nook and cranny. I was paranoid about it sticking.
  • I mixed the cake batter following the box instructions. Nothing fancy, just added eggs, oil, and water.
  • Next, I carefully poured the batter into the mold. I didn’t fill it all the way to the top, leaving about a half-inch of space for it to rise.
  • I gently tapped the mold on the counter a few times to get rid of any air bubbles. This is important, apparently.
  • Then, into the oven it went! I baked it for the time specified on the cake mix box, but I also used the toothpick test to make sure it was done. You know, stick a toothpick in the center, and if it comes out clean, it’s ready.

The Moment of Truth (Unmolding!)

Once the cake was done, I let the cake stay and cool completely before I even thought about taking it out. at least one hour.

This is where I messed up the first time. I got impatient and tried to unmold it too soon, and it totally broke. Don’t be like me. Patience is key!

Once it was completely cool, I carefully flipped the mold over onto a plate. I held my breath and slowly peeled the silicone away. And… it worked! It came out perfectly! I was so excited.

The Finishing Touches

I made a simple glaze with some powdered sugar and milk, and drizzled it over the cake. It looked so pretty! I even sprinkled some edible glitter on top, because why not?

Overall, I’m super happy with how it turned out. It was way easier than I expected, and it looked like I actually knew what I was doing. Definitely going to try some other mold shapes and maybe even experiment with different cake flavors. If I can do it, anyone can!
