So, it was a scorcher last summer, and my old AC unit finally gave up the ghost. I’m in Brea, and let me tell you, finding someone to fix your air conditioning in the middle of a heatwave is no joke. I hopped online and started looking around, and boy, were there a lot of options.
I started by checking out some reviews. I figured, who better to trust than other folks in Brea who’ve been in the same boat? I found a few companies that seemed popular. One was called “J Martin Indoor Air Quality” and another was “Service Champions Plumbing, Heating & AC”. They both had pretty good reviews, so I made a note of them.

Then I stumbled upon a couple more: “Air Mighty Air Conditioning & Refrigeration” and “Friends & Family HVAC.” They also had a lot of positive feedback, so I added them to my list. It’s always good to have options, right?
I spent a good chunk of time reading through what people were saying about these companies. Stuff like how quickly they responded, whether the technicians were professional, and if the prices were fair. “Veteran Air” came up too, and they seemed to be another solid choice based on the reviews.
Narrowing it Down
After a while, I felt like I had a decent list of potential companies. I wanted to narrow it down a bit more, so I started looking at their websites. I checked out what services they offered. Some, like “Haven Air,” mentioned they did both repairs and installations, which was good to know. I wanted to find someone who could tell me what exactly was wrong with my AC unit, not just try to sell me a new one.
I also looked for companies that seemed to focus on the Brea area. I figured they’d be more familiar with the local climate and the types of AC issues people around here tend to have. “Cool Air Technologies Brea” caught my eye because they mentioned their phone number and seemed pretty committed to providing quality service in Brea.
Making Some Calls
With my list whittled down, I started making some calls. I wanted to get a feel for how responsive they were and to get some rough estimates. I spoke to a few places, and they all seemed pretty knowledgeable. Some were able to give me a ballpark figure over the phone, while others said they’d need to send someone out to take a look.
I ended up scheduling a few appointments for technicians to come and diagnose the problem. I figured it was better to get a few different opinions before making a decision. It’s a big investment, you know? I didn’t want to rush into anything.
The Diagnosis
- First Visit: The first guy came out and took a look at my AC. He fiddled around with it for a while and said it was probably a compressor issue. He gave me a quote that seemed a little high, but he was super friendly and explained everything clearly.
- Second Opinion: The next technician had a different take. He said it might be a refrigerant leak and that the compressor might still be okay. His quote was a bit lower, but he wasn’t as thorough in his explanation as the first guy.
- The Decider: The last guy I had out seemed the most experienced. He did a really thorough inspection and found a couple of other minor issues that the others had missed. He confirmed the refrigerant leak and gave me a detailed breakdown of the costs. He also suggested some ways to improve the overall efficiency of my system, which I appreciated.
Ultimately, I decided to go with the third technician. He was from a company called “All City Plumbing, Air & Electrical” which, funnily enough, was one I found closer to the end of my search. They had a lot of good reviews. His price wasn’t the cheapest, but I felt confident in his expertise and his approach. He scheduled the repair for the next day, and I finally started to feel some relief from the heat. They fixed it, it was great, and I haven’t had a problem since!

It was a bit of a hassle, but I learned a lot about AC repair in the process. Hopefully, my experience can help someone else out there who’s dealing with a broken AC in Brea!
