Alright, so I decided to make some desserts with this Duncan Hines Tiara pan I picked up. I’ve seen some recipes online and it looked fun, so why not?
First, I preheated my oven to 350 degrees F. Gotta get that going before anything else. While that was heating up, I grabbed the two Duncan Hines Tiara Dessert Pans. I didn’t have those, so I just used two 10 1/2 x 1 1/2-inch flan pans instead. They looked about the same size, so hopefully it works. I greased them up real good – didn’t want anything sticking.

Get the Cake Mix Ready
Next, I got the cake mix out. I just followed the instructions on the box for the basic recipe. Pretty standard stuff – added eggs, water, and oil to the mix. I whisked everything together until it was nice and smooth. Make sure there are not any lumps.
Pour and Bake
Then, I poured the batter evenly into the two greased pans. I tried to make sure they were filled about the same, ’cause I didn’t want one cake bigger than the other.
After that, the cakes went into the oven. I followed the baking time on the box, I forgot to take notes about the time.
Cool and Decorate
Once they were done, I took them out and let them cool for a bit on a wire rack.
- Checked if they were done by sticking a toothpick in.
- Waited till they were cool enough to handle.
After they cooled down a bit, I gently flipped the cakes over. They slid right out of the pans since I greased them good in the beginning. I carefully placed them, flat side down, on the serving plates.
For the filling, some people mentioned using mousse and pie filling. I didn’t have those, so I just whipped up some cream and put some fresh berries on top. I spread the whipped cream evenly over the cakes. I’m not the best at decorating, but it looked okay. I sprinkled some powdered sugar on top for a little extra something. They actually turned out pretty good! Even my kids loved them. Might try different fillings next time.
