Okay, so, today I’m gonna share my little adventure of making sugar cream cream puffs, and let me tell you, it was quite the ride! I’ve always loved these little fluffy pastries, but making them? That was a whole new world for me.
It all started with the idea of joining a local baking “pageant” – more like a friendly competition, really. I thought, “Why not?” I mean, how hard could it be, right? Well, let’s just say I had my moments.
First, I had to gather all the stuff I needed. Flour, sugar, eggs, butter – the usual suspects. Then came the fun part: making the choux pastry. Now, I’ve watched enough baking shows to think I was practically a pro. I mixed the water, butter, and sugar in a pot and brought it to a boil. Easy peasy. Then, I dumped in the flour and stirred like my life depended on it. The dough came together, and I was feeling pretty good.
The next step was piping the dough onto baking sheets. I tried to make them look all neat and uniform, but let’s be real, they had their own personalities. Some were big, some were small, but hey, they were all mine!
Into the oven they went, and I watched them like a hawk. After they were done, I took them out of the oven, I thought this is easy but the hard part is coming.
Making the cream was the next challenge.
- I whipped the heavy cream until it started to thicken.
- Then, I slowly added the sugar, hoping I wouldn’t mess it up.
- And believe me, I had to be extra careful not to over-whip it!
Once the cream was ready, it was time to fill these bad boys up. I sliced each puff in half and filled them with a generous amount of that sweet, sweet cream. Some of them overflowed a bit, but that’s just extra love, right?
Finally, I put on the final touches which are some powdered sugar on top, just to make them look extra fancy.
The day of the pageant came, and I was a nervous wreck. But you know what? People loved them! They were a hit! I didn’t win, but I didn’t care. I made something I was proud of, and I learned a lot along the way.

So, that’s my story of making sugar cream cream puffs. It was messy, it was fun, and it was totally worth it. If I can do it, you can too! Just remember to have fun and enjoy the process, even if things don’t go exactly as planned. Happy baking, folks!
