Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about makin’ a single serve sugar cookie. Yeah, just one. Sometimes you just want a little somethin’ sweet, ya know? No need to make a whole batch and have them sittin’ around temptin’ ya.
First off, you gotta get your stuff together. Don’t go runnin’ around like a chicken with its head cut off later. You’ll need some flour, that white powdery stuff. And sugar, the regular kind, not that fancy brown stuff. And butter, gotta have butter, makes it all nice and…well, buttery. And a teeny bit of vanilla, if you got it. And one egg, but we ain’t gonna use the whole thing, just a bit. Oh, and a pinch of salt, just a tiny bit, like what you grab between your thumb and finger. Don’t go dumpin’ a whole spoonful in there, ya hear?
- Flour – Just a bit, maybe like, a handful or so.
- Sugar – Gotta have sweetness, ya know? A few spoonfuls should do it.
- Butter – About a thumb-sized chunk, make it soft, not hard as a rock.
- Vanilla – Just a splash, if you got some, if not, it ain’t the end of the world.
- Egg – Just a dab, like, break it and use a little bit.
- Salt – A tiny pinch, like what you’d grab to throw over your shoulder for good luck.
Okay, so now, take that butter and smoosh it up in a bowl. Make it all soft and creamy. Then dump in your sugar and mix it all together real good. Use a spoon, or your hands, whatever’s clean. Just get it all mixed up so it ain’t lumpy.
Next, crack that egg and just take a little bit of it, like, a spoonful or so, and mix it in with the butter and sugar. Don’t go puttin’ the whole egg in there, we don’t need that much. Then, add a splash of that vanilla, if you got it. Mix it all up again.
Now, the flour. Don’t dump it all in at once, or you’ll have a mess. Add it in little by little, mixin’ it as you go. Keep mixin’ until it all comes together and forms a dough ball. It shouldn’t be too sticky, ya know? If it’s too sticky, add a bit more flour. If it’s too dry, add a teeny bit more of that egg, or a drop of milk if you ain’t got no more egg left. And don’t forget that pinch of salt, throw that in there too.
Once you got your dough, roll it into a little ball, like a small meatball. Then, flatten it out a bit on a pan. Don’t need no fancy cookie sheet, just a regular pan will do. If you got some parchment paper, you can put that on the pan so it don’t stick, but if you don’t, just grease the pan a little with some butter.
Now, this ain’t no big fancy “rolled cookie” thing, where you gotta roll it all out thin and use cookie cutters. We’re just makin’ one cookie here, remember? Keep it simple. Ain’t nobody got time for all that fussin’.
Baking time! Stick that pan in the oven. Now, my oven, it ain’t got no fancy temperature settings, but it’s hot. I just stick it in there and keep an eye on it. You want it hot enough to bake the cookie, but not so hot that it burns it to a crisp. Maybe, like, medium-hot? I don’t know, you gotta use your own judgement. Bake it for, oh, I don’t know, maybe 10 minutes or so? Keep an eye on it. When it starts to turn golden brown around the edges, it’s probably done.
When it’s done, take it out of the oven and let it cool for a bit. Don’t go burnin’ your mouth on it. And that’s it! You got yourself a single serve sugar cookie. Nice and warm, perfect for when you got a sweet tooth but don’t want to make a whole bunch of cookies. It ain’t gonna be no fancy bakery cookie, but it’ll be good. And you made it yourself, so that’s somethin’ to be proud of.

Now, some folks like to put those sprinkles and whatnots on their cookies. If you got ‘em, go ahead and throw some on before you bake it. Or, if you got some icing, you can put that on after it cools. But me, I like it plain. Just a simple, good ol’ sugar cookie. Sometimes simple is best, ya know? And these ain’t those shortbread cookies that stay hard for a long time. This here is a bit softer, more chewy.
And listen, don’t you go frettin’ if it ain’t perfect. Baking ain’t supposed to be perfect. It’s supposed to be fun. And even if it comes out a little wonky, it’ll still taste good. That’s all that matters. Now go on and make yourself a cookie. You deserve it.
