Okay, so I’ve been wanting to make shortbread cookies for ages, the kind that look super fancy, you know? I finally decided to give it a go and bought some of those cute little molds.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed a recipe. I found one online that seemed pretty straightforward. Butter, sugar, flour, the usual suspects. I creamed the butter and sugar together, which took a little while ’cause the butter was kinda cold. Should have let it soften up more, I guess.

Mixing and Molding
Then, I mixed in the flour. The dough was pretty crumbly, which is apparently how it’s supposed to be. I was a little worried, ngl.
Next up, the molds! I lightly floured them, hoping the cookies wouldn’t stick. That was a bit of a guessing game. I pressed the dough into the molds, trying to get it nice and even. Some were definitely better than others, lol.
Baking and… Oops!
I popped them in the oven, following the recipe’s baking time. When the timer went off, I pulled them out and… well, some of them were a little too brown. Oops! I think my oven runs a bit hot.
The Results (Mostly Good!)
Getting them out of the molds was a bit tricky, too. A few crumbled, but most of them came out okay. I think next time I’ll let them cool a bit longer in the molds.
In the end the process that I use is:
- find recipe
- mix materials
- put them in molds
- bake
Even with a few casualties, they still tasted pretty good! Super buttery and crumbly, just like shortbread should be. And the ones that survived looked really cute! Definitely worth trying again, but maybe with a slightly lower oven temperature next time. Learning experience, right?
