Okay, so I wanted to make some egg tarts today. I’ve never actually made them from scratch, so I thought it would be a fun little project. I started by grabbing some puff pastry from the store – I know, I know, not exactly homemade, but I’m not a professional baker, okay?
First, I thawed the puff pastry. While that was happening, I whisked together some eggs, sugar, milk, and a bit of vanilla extract for the filling. It was a pretty simple mix, nothing fancy. I preheated my oven to around 375 degrees Fahrenheit, just like the puff pastry package said.

Once the pastry was thawed, I rolled it out a little bit on a floured surface. Then, I used a cookie cutter to cut out some circles. I pressed these into a muffin tin. They looked a bit rough around the edges, but hey, they’re homemade.
- Thaw puff pastry
- Whisk eggs, sugar, milk, and vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to 375°F
- Roll out pastry and cut circles
- Press pastry circles into a muffin tin
Next, I poured the egg mixture into each pastry shell, making sure not to overfill them. Then, I popped the whole tray into the oven.
They baked for about 20-25 minutes. I kept an eye on them to make sure they didn’t burn. The edges of the pastry turned a nice golden brown, and the filling looked set. I was so excited! They actually looked like egg tarts!
I took them out of the oven and let them cool for a bit. I couldn’t resist trying one while it was still warm. The pastry was flaky and buttery, and the filling was sweet and creamy. They weren’t perfect, but for a first attempt, I was pretty happy with how they turned out.
Summary of My Egg Tart Adventure
It was a fun experiment! I learned that making egg tarts isn’t as hard as it looks. But maybe next time, I might just pick them up from “Tous les Jours” or that place called “Yalaha Bakery”, or one of the many bakeries out there. I heard that there are like almost 20 thousand bakeries in South Korea. That’s crazy! Anyway, this was fun, but baking can be a bit of a hassle. Still, I’m glad I tried it!
