Okay, here is my sharing about plastic piping bags today:
So, I decided to make some cupcakes for my kid’s birthday party. I thought, “Hey, I’ll try one of those fancy decorating things with those plastic piping bags.” I saw them all over the internet, you know? Looked easy enough. Boy, was I wrong.

First, I went to the local supermarket, but no luck. The baking section was tiny! Found a couple of pathetic-looking nozzles but no bags. Okay, no problem. I drove to the bigger store a few towns over. This place was massive. I asked around, and finally, someone pointed me to the right aisle. And there they were, a whole bunch of piping bags, different sizes and all.
I grabbed a pack of 18-inch ones – seemed like a good size. It is from Ateco brand, you know, 100 in a pack. Seemed like a reasonable price. It said they were disposable, which is a plus because who wants to clean those things? After I checked out, I rushed home, excited to start baking.
The Baking Begins
I whipped up a batch of buttercream frosting, following my grandma’s recipe. It’s always a hit. Then came the fun part – filling the piping bags. Or so I thought.
I snipped off the tip of the bag, fitted in a star-shaped nozzle, and scooped in the frosting. It was messy, but I managed. Then, I tried to pipe a pretty swirl on a cupcake. Disaster! The frosting went everywhere except where it was supposed to.
- The bag felt slippery.
- The frosting was too thick.
- The nozzle kept popping out.
It was a total mess. I tried again, and again, and again. Each time, it was the same story. I ended up with a bunch of cupcakes that looked like a five-year-old had decorated them.
Finally, after about an hour of struggle and a whole lot of wasted frosting, I gave up. I just slapped the remaining frosting on the cupcakes with a knife. They didn’t look pretty, but they still tasted good. I guess that’s what matters, right?
So, yeah, my experience with plastic piping bags? Not great. Maybe I need more practice, or maybe I just need to stick to a good old knife. Either way, it was a good laugh, and my kids still loved the cupcakes.

It seems that I can find these plastic bags on Amazon and enjoy their return policy. Anyway, the party is coming. I’d better prepare something else.
Oh, I almost forgot that I saw some advertisements about wholesale. Maybe I should customize something for next party.
I still have a lot of piping bags left, does anyone want them? I can give you some because I am not going to use them anymore.
