Okay, so, pie preference, right? I got curious about this topic the other day. I mean, who doesn’t love a good pie? I wanted to see what kind of pies people liked the most. So I went down this rabbit hole of data from the New York Times, and it was pretty interesting.
First, I found this data set. It had all kinds of info on what pies people said they preferred. It was kind of messy, but nothing I couldn’t handle. I started by cleaning it up.

I opened the data in a spreadsheet program. Looked through it, made sure everything made sense. It was mostly just a bunch of survey responses, you know, people saying “I like apple pie” or “I like pumpkin pie.” Some of it was kinda funny, like people picking weird flavors. Made me chuckle.
Then I started counting up the responses. I made some simple tables to see which pies were the most popular. This is the part where I felt like a real data nerd, but hey, it was fun!
Here are my findings
- Apple
- Pumpkin
- Pecan
- Cherry
- Blueberry
So then I was like, “Hey, these numbers are cool, but wouldn’t it be neat to see this visually?” You know, like a real pie chart of pie preferences? That’s when I started messing around with some charting tools.
I tried a few different programs, trying to figure out which one was the easiest to use and made the prettiest charts. I played around with colors and labels and all that jazz.
After a bit of trial and error, I made a nice-looking pie chart. It clearly showed which pies were the winners and which were, well, not so much. I had a good time playing around with making different visualizations of the data. It was eye-opening.
Then I decided to share my findings with my readers on my blog. I put together a post explaining what I did, how I did it, and what I found. I added the pie chart, of course, because who doesn’t love a good visual? This is just another day of me sharing the stuff I do with you guys! I hope you like it!

So, that’s my little adventure in the world of pie preferences. It was a fun little project, and I learned a few things along the way. Plus, now I’m craving pie. Time to go bake something!
