Okay, so I’ve been seeing these peppermint puffs all over the internet, and they looked so darn cute and yummy. I just had to try making them myself. They’re supposed to be super easy, with just a few ingredients, and they literally melt in your mouth. Sounds perfect, right? Well, let me tell you about my little adventure making these.
First things first, I gathered all my stuff. I got out some powdered sugar, a little bit of corn syrup, some water, peppermint extract (the star of the show!), and a pinch of salt. I also grabbed some red food coloring because I wanted to make them look extra festive.

I started by mixing the powdered sugar and corn syrup in a big bowl. It got pretty sticky, let me tell you. Then, I slowly added the water, bit by bit, until it started to come together like a dough. This part was kind of messy, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
Once I had a nice, smooth dough, I split it in half. In one half, I put in a few drops of peppermint extract and a pinch of salt. I mixed it up really well, making sure the flavor was all through it. In the other half, I did the same thing but also added a few drops of that red food coloring. I had to knead that one for a while to get the color all even.
Shaping These Little Guys
- Rolling: I sprinkled some powdered sugar on my counter so the dough wouldn’t stick, and then I rolled out each piece of dough into a long, thin rope, about half an inch thick, maybe a little less.
- Cutting: I took a knife and cut each rope into little bite-sized pieces.
- Drying: I laid all the little pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. The hardest part was waiting for them to dry! It took about a day for them to fully harden. I just left them out on the counter.
Finally, the moment of truth! I popped one of those little peppermint puffs into my mouth, and oh my goodness! They were exactly as advertised. They just melted away, leaving a cool, refreshing peppermint flavor. The red ones looked so pretty mixed with the white ones. I put them in a cute little jar, and they looked like something straight out of a Christmas movie.
Honestly, these were way easier to make than I expected. They’re perfect for a little treat, and they’d be great for a party or to give as a gift. I’m definitely going to be making these again. Maybe next time I’ll try different colors or flavors. Mint chocolate, anyone?
