Okay, so I was messing around in the kitchen the other day, and I had this idea to make some Parmesan cheese puffs. I mean, who doesn’t love cheese, right? And puffy, airy cheese sounded amazing. So, I gathered a few things I already had lying around – some Parmesan cheese, of course, a bit of bacon ’cause why not, and some Italian seasoning for that extra kick.

First, I started grating the Parmesan. I used my trusty Zyliss Classic Rotary Cheese Grater. That thing is a lifesaver, especially for hard cheeses like Parmesan. It makes grating so much easier and faster. I grated a good amount because I wanted these puffs to be super cheesy.

Then, I cooked up some bacon until it was nice and crispy. I love the smell of bacon in the morning, but this was in the afternoon, and it still smelled just as good. I crumbled the cooked bacon into tiny pieces.

Next, I got a big bowl and dumped in the grated Parmesan, the crumbled bacon, and a generous sprinkle of Italian seasoning. I didn’t add any extra salt because the Parmesan and bacon were already salty enough.

I mixed everything together with my hands, making sure the bacon and seasoning were evenly distributed throughout the cheese. Then, I preheated my oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While the oven was heating up, I got a baking sheet and lined it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

I started scooping out little mounds of the cheese mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, making sure to leave some space between each one. These were going to be my cheese puffs, so I wanted them to have room to puff up.

Baking Time

  • I popped the baking sheet into the preheated oven and set a timer for about 15-20 minutes.
  • I kept an eye on them while they were baking because I didn’t want them to burn.

After about 18 minutes, they were golden brown and looked perfectly puffed up. I pulled them out of the oven and let them cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet. The smell was incredible – a mix of cheesy, bacony goodness with a hint of Italian herbs. I swear my stomach was growling at this point!

Once they were cool enough to handle, I transferred them to a plate and tried one. Oh my goodness, they were amazing! Crispy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside, with a rich, savory flavor. The bacon added a nice smoky touch, and the Italian seasoning gave it that extra something special.

I ended up making a bunch of these, and they were a huge hit with my family. They’re perfect as a snack, an appetizer, or even a side dish. Plus, they’re super easy to make, which is always a bonus in my book. I’d definitely recommend giving these a try if you’re a cheese lover like me. It is good for someone who loves making homemade food, especially the comfort of bacon with a touch of sophistication from Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning. You know what I mean?

The only thing I have to say is, do not add additional salt. It is not needed. If you want a break from butter or jams, try these Parmesan cheese puffs!
