Okay, so I’ve been wanting to make my own oat flour for a while now. I always see these recipes calling for it, and honestly, it’s kind of pricey at the store. Plus, I like knowing exactly what’s going into my food, you know?
So, today was the day. I finally got around to trying it, and guess what? It’s ridiculously easy. Seriously, I don’t know why I waited so long.

Getting Started
First, I grabbed my trusty old blender. A food processor would probably work too, but I just used what I had on hand. Then, I measured out some rolled oats – the regular, old-fashioned kind, not the instant stuff. I went with about two cups, figuring that would be a good amount to start with.
- Used: Old-fashioned rolled oats (about 2 cups)
- Equipment: Regular blender
The Blending Process
Next, I dumped the oats into the blender. I put the lid on tight – this is important, trust me, you don’t want oat dust flying everywhere! – and started blending. I started on low speed, then gradually increased it to high. It took a couple of minutes, and I had to stop a few times to scrape down the sides of the blender with a spatula. Some of the oats kept getting stuck, you see.
I kept blending until it looked like a fine powder. It wasn’t perfectly smooth, like, there were still a few tiny bits of oats, but it was mostly flour-like. I figured that was good enough for what I needed.
The Final Result!
And that’s it! I had my own homemade organic oat flour. I poured it into an airtight container, and now it’s ready to use. I’m thinking of making some muffins with it tomorrow. Or maybe pancakes. Or…well, the possibilities are endless!
Honestly, I’m so happy with how this turned out. It was way easier than I thought, and it’s going to save me some money in the long run. Plus, it feels good to make something from scratch. If you’ve been thinking about making your own oat flour, I say go for it! You won’t regret it.
