Organic Baking Powder vs Regular: Whats the Difference?

Okay, so today I’m gonna ramble about my little baking adventure using organic baking powder. Let me tell you, it was a day. A day filled with flour, questionable measuring, and a whole lotta hope.

It all started with a recipe I found online for some supposedly super-fluffy pancakes. You know, the kind that look like clouds and make you wanna sing. The recipe specifically called for organic baking powder, which I didn’t have. So, naturally, I decided this was the perfect excuse to go to the store.

Organic Baking Powder vs Regular: Whats the Difference?

I grabbed the organic baking powder – some fancy brand, probably overpriced – and headed home, ready to become a pancake wizard. First, I dumped all the dry ingredients into a bowl. Flour went in… maybe a little too much? Sugar… eh, close enough. And then, the star of the show: the organic baking powder. I measured it out, or at least I attempted to. My measuring spoons are kinda bent, so who knows how accurate it was.

Next came the wet stuff. Milk, egg, melted butter. I whisked it all together, and let’s just say it wasn’t exactly a smooth batter. There were lumps. Big lumps. I tried to whisk them out, but they were stubborn little buggers. I figured, “What the heck, lumps add character, right?”

I heated up my griddle, drizzled on some oil, and poured on the batter. And waited. And waited. Bubbles started forming, but not like those perfect, even bubbles you see in cooking shows. These were… erratic. Some big, some small, some nonexistent. I flipped them when they looked “done-ish.”

The final result? Well, they weren’t exactly cloud-like. They were more like… dense, slightly misshapen discs. They tasted okay, I guess. A little bland. Maybe I should have added more sugar. Or maybe my baking powder was a dud. Who knows?

Lessons learned?

  • Bent measuring spoons are the enemy.
  • Lumps in batter are not your friend.
  • Organic baking powder doesn’t magically make you a better baker.

Will I try this again? Probably. I’m not one to give up easily. Next time, I’ll invest in some proper measuring tools and maybe watch a YouTube tutorial or two. Stay tuned for the next baking disaster… I mean, adventure!
