Well, let me tell ya, this mini chocolate chip banana bread is somethin’ else. I tell ya, it’s good. My grandkids, they just gobble it up. Every time they come over, they say, “Grandma, you make that banana bread?” And I say, “You betcha!”
This here bread, it ain’t hard to make. Even ol’ me can do it, and my hands ain’t what they used to be. You just need some of them bananas that are gettin’ all brown and spotty. You know, the ones nobody wants to eat. Those are the best ones for banana bread. The riper the better, I always say. Sweeter, ya know?

First thing, you gotta mash up them bananas. I use my old potato masher. Works like a charm. You want ’em good and mashed, no big ol’ lumps. And when the bananas get all ripe and brown, they mash up real easy. Mash them bananas is important for the best mini chocolate chip banana bread.
Then you gotta get your other stuff together. Flour, sugar, eggs. Regular stuff you got in the kitchen. Oh, and butter! Gotta have butter. Makes it all nice and, uh, buttery! And don’t forget the salt. Just a pinch, mind you. You can also add some baking soda, that will help your banana bread to be soft.
Now, for these mini chocolate chip banana bread, you gotta put in them little chocolate chips. My grandkids, they love them chocolate chips. The more the merrier, I reckon. ‘Course, you don’t want it to be all chocolate and no banana. Gotta have that banana flavor.
Some folks, they put nuts in their banana bread. Walnuts or pecans. I don’t, though, ’cause one of my grandkids, he don’t like nuts. So I just stick with the chocolate chips. And my family, they all like cinnamon. So I will also add some cinnamon, not too much, just a little bit. And I will tell ya, some oats. Not too much, just a little. You know, just to make this banana bread better.
You mix it all up, the wet stuff and the dry stuff. Don’t overmix it, though. Just mix it till it’s all combined. Then you stir in them chocolate chips. I use a big ol’ wooden spoon. My mama always used a wooden spoon, and her mama before her. Gotta use them strong spoon to mix, ’cause the banana is thick, ya know?
Then you gotta grease your pan. I use them little loaf pans. ‘Cause we’re makin’ mini ones, remember? Just a little bit of butter or that spray stuff will work fine. The spray is easy, ya know?
- Mash them bananas up good.
- Get your flour, sugar, eggs, and butter ready.
- Don’t forget a pinch of salt.
- Add in them chocolate chips. Lots of ’em!
- Mix it all up, but don’t overmix.
- Grease your little loaf pans.
Pour the batter into them pans. Fill ’em up about halfway. Don’t overfill, or they’ll spill over when they’re bakin’. And that’s a mess you don’t want. Nobody wants to clean that up, I’ll tell ya that right now.

Then you pop ’em in the oven. I bake mine at 350 degrees. Takes about, oh, 20-25 minutes for these little ones. You know they’re done when you stick a toothpick in ’em and it comes out clean. Not all gooey, ya know? You can also use a knife to test it, but I always use a toothpick.
When they’re done, you gotta let ’em cool. That’s the hardest part, waitin’ for ’em to cool down. The smell just fills up the whole house. Makes your mouth water. But if you try to eat ’em too soon, they’ll just fall apart. So you gotta be patient.
Once they’re cool, you can slice ’em up. I like to eat mine with a little bit of butter on top. Some folks like cream cheese. My grandkids, they just eat ’em plain. They’re good any way you eat ’em.
And that’s all there is to it. Easy peasy, as they say. This mini chocolate chip banana bread is a real crowd-pleaser. Everyone loves it. Even ol’ Uncle Earl, and he don’t like nothin’. You should see my family eat them up. They can eat a lot, I mean, a lot. They are like hungry wolves.
So next time you got some bananas gettin’ all brown, don’t throw ’em out. Make some banana bread! It’s a good way to use up them old bananas. And it’s a tasty treat, too. Try to make it one day. It’s easy, you will see. If you want to make them mini, just use the small pan. If you don’t, use the bigger pan. They are all good. I like the mini ones, they are cute, ya know?
I been makin’ this banana bread for years. Learned it from my mama. And she learned it from her mama. It’s an old recipe, but it’s a good one. Stands the test of time, as they say. And it is the best mini chocolate chip banana bread.
I hope you like my mini chocolate chip banana bread. I make them all the time, maybe two or three times a week. My grandkids, they always come and ask for more. The big ones and the little ones, they all love them. You just need to try them out. They are good, really good. Trust me, I know.
