Okay, so I’ve been seeing matcha everything lately, and I finally caved and bought a box of matcha cake mix. I’m not a huge baker, but I figured, how hard could it be? It’s a mix, right?
Getting Started
First, I grabbed the box and read the instructions. Pretty standard stuff: eggs, oil, and water. I checked to make sure I had all that, and I did! I preheated the oven like the box said – 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mixing It Up
I dumped the mix into a big bowl. It was this really pretty, vibrant green color. Then, I cracked the eggs in – two of them. Next, I measured out the oil and water and poured them in. I used my electric mixer, because, well, I’m lazy. It whisked everything together really fast, and the batter turned this pale, pastel green. It looked kinda cool!
Baking Time
I greased a round cake pan with some butter, just to be safe. Then I poured the batter in. It looked a little thin, but I figured it would puff up in the oven. I popped it in and set the timer for 30 minutes, like the box instructed.
- While it was baking, I cleaned up the mess I’d made. Not too bad, actually.
The Moment of Truth
The timer went off, and I pulled the cake out. It looked… okay. I stuck a toothpick in the center, and it came out clean, so I knew it was done.I let the cake cool down completely.
The Taste?
I cut a slice and finally tasted the cake! So delicious!
