Okay, so today I wanted to try baking a simple cake, and I grabbed a bag of Martha White All-Purpose Flour. I’ve used this flour before for cookies and stuff, but never for a full-on cake. Let’s see how it went!

Getting Started

First, I grabbed my usual recipe – just a basic vanilla cake. Nothing fancy. I made sure I had all the other ingredients: sugar, eggs, butter, milk, vanilla extract, and baking powder. You know, the usual suspects.

Mixing it Up

I preheated my oven to 350°F (175°C). Gotta have that ready to go! Then, I creamed together the butter and sugar in my big mixing bowl until it was light and fluffy. That always takes a little while, but it’s important!

Next, I beat in the eggs one at a time. I always do this slowly so they mix in properly. Then I stirred in the vanilla extract.

The Flour Power

Now for the Martha White flour! In a separate bowl, I whisked together the flour and baking powder. I always do this to make sure the baking powder is evenly spread out. Nobody wants a lumpy cake!

Then, I gradually added the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. I started with flour, then some milk, then more flour, and so on, until it was all combined. I mixed it on low speed, just until everything was mixed. You don’t want to overmix it, or the cake can get tough.

Baking Time!

I poured the batter into a greased and floured cake pan. I always tap the pan on the counter a few times to get rid of any big air bubbles.

Then, into the oven it went! I baked it for about 30 minutes. I always check it with a toothpick – if it comes out clean, it’s done!

The Results

  • Texture: The cake turned out pretty good! It was nice and moist, not dry at all.
  • Rise:It rose evenly, no weird bumps or anything.
  • Taste: And of course, it tasted great! The flour didn’t give it any weird flavor or anything. Just a good, solid vanilla cake.

Overall, I’d say the Martha White All-Purpose Flour worked perfectly fine for this cake. No complaints here! I’ll definitely use it again for simple baking projects like this.
