King Arthur Sourdough Chocolate Cake is so Good, Try this Simple Recipe Now

Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another kitchen adventure. Today, we’re diving deep into the world of chocolate and sourdough. Yep, you heard that right – we’re making a King Arthur Sourdough Chocolate Cake. Now, I gotta admit, when I first saw this recipe, I was like, “Sourdough? In a chocolate cake? What?” But trust me on this one, it’s a game changer.

So, I rolled up my sleeves and got started. First things first, I gathered all my ingredients. I’m talking about the usual suspects – flour, sugar, eggs, and of course, a good amount of cocoa powder. But here’s the twist – we’re also using our trusty sourdough starter. I found this recipe from King Arthur, and I was so curious I had to try it.

The first step was mixing the wet ingredients. I cracked those eggs, poured in the oil, and gave it a good whisk. Then, I added my sourdough starter. This is where the magic happens, folks. That starter is gonna give our cake a subtle tanginess that just elevates the whole thing.

Next up, the dry ingredients. I sifted together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt. Gotta make sure there are no lumps in there. Then, slowly but surely, I combined the wet and dry ingredients. You don’t want to overmix it, just enough so everything is nicely incorporated.

Getting Ready to Bake

  • Preheat the oven: I set it to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease the pan: Used a 9×13 inch pan, and gave it a good greasing and dusting of flour.

Once the batter was ready, I poured it into the prepared pan and popped it into the oven. Now, the waiting game begins. It took about 30-40 minutes for my cake to bake. I did the good ol’ toothpick test – came out clean, so I knew it was ready.

While the cake was cooling, I whipped up a simple chocolate frosting. You can’t have a chocolate cake without frosting, right? Once the cake was completely cool, I slathered on that frosting like there’s no tomorrow.

Finally, the moment of truth. I sliced into that cake, and oh boy, was it worth it. The cake was moist, rich, and had that perfect hint of sourdough tang. It’s like a regular chocolate cake but with a little something extra. This recipe is a direct homage to the legendary chef Alain Ducasse. I mean, the ingredients are similar, but this sourdough twist? Genius.

So, there you have it, my friends. My adventure with the King Arthur Sourdough Chocolate Cake. It’s definitely a recipe I’ll be making again and again. If you’re looking to try something new and exciting, give this one a shot. You won’t regret it!
