Okay, so I’ve been trying to get my pantry organized, and flour was a big problem. Bags ripping, spills everywhere – a total mess! I saw someone online using mason jars, and I thought, “I gotta try that.”
Getting Started
First, I grabbed a bunch of mason jars. I already had some, but I picked up a few more at the store. I made sure to get different sizes, because, you know, sometimes you need a lot of flour, sometimes just a little.

Then, I washed all the jars and lids really well. I mean, really well. I didn’t want any weird stuff getting into my flour. I let them dry completely, which took a while, but it’s super important.
The Transfer
This was the slightly messy part. I opened my big bag of flour (carefully this time!) and started scooping it into the jars. I used a wide-mouth funnel, which made things way easier. Without it, flour would have been everywhere. Trust me, use a funnel!
I filled the jars almost to the top, but I left a little bit of space. I didn’t want to pack the flour down too much. I think it’s supposed to stay a bit airy, or something like that.
Labeling
- All-Purpose Flour
- Bread Flour
I stuck those labels on, and bam! Done. So much neater than those floppy bags.
The Result
My pantry looks so much better now. Seriously. The jars are all lined up, easy to see, and no more flour explosions. I can grab exactly what I need without making a mess. Plus, it just looks kinda pretty, right? I’m definitely feeling like a more organized baker now!
The most important is the jars keep the flour fresh longer, that’s what I want.
