Today, I went to the supermarket and bought a 4-pound bag of Imperial Extra-Fine Pure Cane Granulated Sugar. When I got home, I took a good look at the packaging and saw that it’s made from 100% pure cane sugar. It says right there on the bag – it’s non-GMO, and also free from those common allergens like milk, eggs, peanuts, and all that stuff. They make it at the United States Sugar Savannah Refinery facilities, and it’s vegan and gluten-free too, which is good to know.
I opened the bag and poured some out. The sugar is really fine, like they say. It dissolves super quick, which I tested by stirring some into my coffee. I noticed it has a slightly darker color than some other sugars I’ve used before. I guess that’s because it’s not super processed. Also, I learned that this kind of sugar is only made from sugarcane, not sugar beets. I always thought all sugar was the same, but apparently not!

Nutrition and all that stuff
- Calories: It says on the bag that a serving has about 15 calories.
- Kosher and Halal: I also saw that it’s marked as both Kosher and Halal.
So, I used some of this sugar to bake a cake. It mixed in really well with the other ingredients because it’s so fine. The cake turned out great – sweet and tasty. This Imperial sugar seems pretty good for baking, or even just for sweetening up your drinks. It’s a big bag, so I’ve got plenty left to experiment with. Might try making some cookies next. I’ll let you guys know how they turn out!
Using this sugar reminded me of when my grandma used to bake. She always said the type of sugar matters. I never really paid much attention before, but now I’m starting to see what she meant. This cane sugar does seem different. It’s got a kind of richer taste. Next time you’re at the store, you might want to grab a bag of this Imperial sugar and try it out. Just sharing my little kitchen adventure with you all!
