Okay, so today I’m gonna spill the beans on this little side hustle thing I’ve been doing: selling biscuits. Sounds simple, right? Well, it’s been a journey, let me tell you.
It all started when my grandma passed down her biscuit recipe. Seriously, these biscuits are legendary. Everyone who tries them goes nuts. I was making them for family gatherings and folks were always saying, “You should sell these!” So, I thought, why not? Gotta start somewhere, right?

First thing I did was figure out the recipe. Sounds dumb, but grandma never actually wrote it down. It was all “a pinch of this, a handful of that.” So, I spent a few weeks baking batches and carefully measuring everything until I got it just right. That took forever! Flour EVERYWHERE.
Next up: packaging. I wanted something that looked decent but didn’t cost a fortune. Ended up finding these kraft paper bags online that were pretty cheap and had a rustic vibe. I bought a stamp with my (very basic) “brand name” and slapped it on each bag. Looked homemade, but in a good way, you know?
Then came the hard part: actually selling them. I started small, telling friends and family. Word of mouth is powerful, man. Pretty soon, I had a little list of regulars. After that, I went to farmer’s market. That was a wake up call. Setting up the stand and talking to people about my biscuits. It was nerve wracking!
I noticed pretty quick that people like options, I originally only sold the plain ones. One day I just threw in some chocolate chips and boy did they sell like crazy! I started experimenting with other flavors: cinnamon sugar, blueberry, even a savory cheddar and chive. People went crazy for the cheddar ones.
Of course, there were some hiccups. I had one batch that came out totally flat. Turns out my baking powder was expired! Had to throw the whole thing away. And then there was the time I accidentally used salt instead of sugar… yikes.
Now, I’m thinking about a small store. Maybe I can also offer coffee or tea to complete the whole breakfast experience.
Anyway, that’s the story so far. It’s been a lot of work, but seeing people enjoy my biscuits makes it all worthwhile. Plus, I’m making a little extra cash, which is always a good thing. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll have a whole biscuit empire!
