Okay, so the other day I decided to try making those viral cookie bars everyone’s been raving about. I had my recipe, my ingredients, and I was ready to go. But then I realized I was out of parchment paper! Total bummer, right?
Luckily, I remembered I had bought this silicone baking paper roll a while back, thinking it would be a more eco-friendly option. I’d never actually used it before, so I was a little nervous.
Getting Started
First things first, I unrolled the silicone paper. It felt kinda weird, all smooth and floppy, not like regular parchment paper at all. I cut a piece that was a bit bigger than my baking pan, just to be safe. It was super easy to cut, which was a nice surprise.
The Baking Process
I laid the silicone paper in the pan, and it fit pretty well. It did bunch up a little in the corners, but nothing major. Then, I poured in my cookie dough and spread it out evenly. I popped the pan in the oven and crossed my fingers.
- While the cookie bars were baking, I kept checking on them. I noticed that the silicone paper didn’t brown or get crispy like regular parchment paper does. That kind of made me wonder if it was working properly.
- When the timer went off, I pulled the pan out. The cookie bars looked perfectly baked, golden brown on top and everything!
The Results
I let the cookie bars cool for a bit, then I tried to lift them out using the edges of the silicone paper. And guess what? They came out super easily! No sticking whatsoever. I was seriously impressed.
The best part? Cleaning the silicone paper was a breeze. I just rinsed it with some soapy water, and it was good as new. No more throwing away tons of parchment paper! I think I have been total converted!
