Alright, let’s talk about this here… what’s it called? Egg tart floor lamp. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But I reckon it’s just a lamp, shaped like, well, an egg tart. My grandkid showed me a picture, and I thought, “Well, ain’t that somethin’?”
First off, what is this thing anyway? It’s a lamp, see? You plug it in, and it gives you light. Now, I’ve seen all sorts of lamps in my day. Got the ones that hang from the ceiling, the ones you put on a table, even the ones you hold in your hand when the power goes out. But a floor lamp shaped like a dang egg tart? That’s a new one.
Where would you even put such a thing? I guess you could stick it in your living room, next to your chair. Maybe it’d be good for readin’ at night. Or you could put it in your bedroom, if you like a little bit of light before you go to sleep. My old eyes don’t work so well so a good light is important you know. But to be honest, I don’t think it’d fit in too well in my house. We got more important things to worry about than fancy lamps.
- Looks: Well, it looks like an egg tart, like I said. Round on the bottom, kinda wavy on the top. Some of ’em are made of glass, which seems kinda fragile to me. I bet you’d have to dust it all the time too, and who has time for that?
- Light: It gives off light, just like any other lamp. But I heard some of ’em have different settings, so you can make it brighter or dimmer. Fancy, I tell ya. Back in my day we lit candles. We didn’t have all these fancy stuff.
- Size: They come in all different sizes, I guess. Some are small, some are big. I reckon you’d want one that fits the size of your room. You wouldn’t want a giant egg tart lamp in a tiny little bedroom, would ya? And you wouldn’t want it to be too small either. Gotta be just right you know?
Now, I don’t know much about these fancy designer folks, but I heard tell there’s this place called Bolia. They got all sorts of lamps, or so they say. Thousands of ’em! For every room in your house. And they let you return ’em if you don’t like ’em. Fifty days, they say. Sounds like a lot of fuss to me. But I figure if they are selling them they must be good you know. Them city folks they always buying stuff.
But let’s be real here. Do you really need a lamp shaped like an egg tart? I mean, is it gonna make your life any better? Is it gonna help you put food on the table? Is it gonna keep you warm in the winter? I don’t think so. It’s just another thing to buy, another thing to dust, another thing to worry about. That’s what I think anyway.

But hey, if you got the money and you like the way it looks, then go ahead and get yourself an egg tart floor lamp. It ain’t gonna hurt nobody. Just don’t come cryin’ to me when it breaks or when you gotta clean it. I got enough of my own troubles without worrying about your fancy lamps. And make sure it’s something useful! A good light is important but it shouldn’t cost too much. You need to save money for the important things in life you know.
And another thing, I heard some of these lamps are made of glass. Glass! That just seems like a bad idea to me. What if you bump into it? What if the kids knock it over? You’ll have shards of glass all over the place. No thank you. I’d rather stick with a good old-fashioned lamp that ain’t gonna break the first time somebody sneezes.
So, there you have it. My two cents on this egg tart floor lamp thing. It’s a lamp, it looks like an egg tart, and it probably costs more than it should. If you want one, go ahead and get it. But me? I’ll stick with my old lamp, thank you very much. It ain’t pretty, but it gets the job done. And that’s all that matters to me.
At the end of the day it’s about what makes you happy. If you want to spend your money on a egg tart looking lamp you go right ahead. It ain’t my business what you do. This whole world is too complicated for an old woman like me. Back in my days things were much simpler but now everything is too complicated, too expensive, too fancy, and just too much in general.
