Well, let me tell ya ’bout these here whole wheat soda crackers. I ain’t no fancy food expert or nothin’, but I know what tastes good and what’s good for ya, kinda.
What are these crackers anyway?

These ain’t your regular white flour crackers, no sir. They’re made with that whole wheat stuff, you know, the kind that’s supposed to be better for ya. They say it’s got more of that…fiber stuff in it. Makes ya go to the bathroom easier, if ya know what I mean. Heard it’s good for keepin’ things movin’ along, if ya catch my drift.
I reckon they take that whole wheat and grind it up, then mix it with some other things. The package says somethin’ about soda, but I ain’t tasted no fizzy drink in ’em. Must be somethin’ else they use to make ’em rise up all nice and crispy.
Are they any good?
Well, I ain’t gonna lie, they don’t taste exactly like them sweet cookies you get at the store. They’re a bit more…earthy, I guess you could say. But they ain’t bad, not bad at all. They got a nice crunch to ’em, and they’re kinda salty, which I like. Good for nibblin’ on when you’re watchin’ your stories on that there TV thing.
- They got a good crunch.
- They’re kinda salty, just right for me.
- They ain’t sweet like candy, but that’s alright.
Are they healthy?
Now, that’s what they all say, ain’t it? That whole wheat is healthier than that white stuff. I reckon it’s true, seein’ as how they keep talkin’ about it on the radio. They say it’s got more of them vitamins and minerals, and that fiber stuff I was talkin’ about. I guess it’s better than eatin’ nothin’ but fried foods all day long, which ain’t bad but can’t eat it everyday.
I heard tell these crackers are low in calories and fat too. That’s good for folks watchin’ their weight, I suppose. Not that I’m worried about that, mind you. I’ve been workin’ hard all my life, ain’t got no time to sit around gettin’ fat.

What do you eat them with?
Well, you can eat ’em just plain, if you want. That’s how I usually eat ’em. But sometimes I put a little somethin’ on ’em. A slice of cheese, maybe, or some peanut butter. My grandbaby likes to put jelly on ’em, but that’s too sweet for my taste.
I seen some folks puttin’ them fancy dips on ’em, too. You know, that guacamole stuff, or that hummus. I ain’t tried none of that fancy stuff myself. I stick to the basics, I do. Good old cheese or maybe some leftover ham if I got some.
Where can you get them?
You can find these crackers at most any grocery store, I reckon. They ain’t hard to find. Just look for the box that says “whole wheat” on it. They come in different sizes, too. Big boxes, little boxes, all kinds. You get the big one if you got a big family or just like eatin’ a lot of crackers, I suppose.
So, what’s the final word?
Well, like I said, I ain’t no fancy food expert. But I like these whole wheat soda crackers. They’re tasty, they’re crunchy, and they’re supposed to be good for ya. Can’t ask for much more than that, can ya? Give ’em a try, see if you like ’em. If you don’t, well, more for me then.

A word to the wise
Now, don’t go thinkin’ you can eat a whole box of these in one sittin’ and call it a healthy meal. Everything in moderation, that’s what my mama always said. A few of these with a piece of fruit and some milk, now that’s a good snack. Or maybe with some soup for lunch. Just use your common sense, that’s all.
And don’t be fooled by all them fancy labels and health claims. Just read the ingredients, and if you can understand most of ’em, it’s probably alright. If it sounds like somethin’ you’d find in a science lab, well, maybe you should think twice about eatin’ it. That’s just my two cents, mind you.
One last thing before I go
These whole wheat crackers aren’t for everyone. If you got one them gluten problems, then these ain’t for you. My neighbor’s boy can’t eat no wheat, makes him sick as a dog. So, if you ain’t sure, best to ask your doctor or just stay away from it.
Alright, I reckon I’ve said enough about these crackers. Time for me to go make myself a cup of tea and have a few with some cheese. Y’all take care now, and don’t forget to eat your whole grains.
