Okay, so, I’ve been baking a lot lately, you know, just trying to get better at it and have some fun in the kitchen. Cupcakes are kinda my thing right now, they’re easy to make and you can get really creative with the decorations. I saw these edible butterfly cupcake toppers online the other day and thought, “Hey, those look pretty cool, I gotta try that!”
So, I started by looking around for where to get these things. There are a bunch of places selling them, like seriously, a lot. I found them on some big online stores, and there were even some smaller shops that had them. Prices were all over the place, from like five bucks for a pack to almost ten. I ended up grabbing a pack of 48 from a seller called TIESOME for $6.99, seemed like a good deal.

While I was waiting for the butterflies to arrive, I went ahead and baked a batch of vanilla cupcakes. Just a regular recipe, nothing fancy. I whipped up some buttercream frosting too, and added some colors. I did the usual frosting thing, making swirls and peaks, trying to make them look all nice and professional, haha.
Finally, the butterflies arrived in a small package. They were made of some sort of wafer paper, which I learned is like, edible rice paper. They looked pretty delicate, so I was careful when taking them out. They came in different sizes, which was pretty neat.
- First, I took a butterfly and gently folded it a little to make it look like it was about to take flight.
- Then, I carefully placed it on top of the frosting on a cupcake. It was a bit tricky, I won’t lie. You gotta have a steady hand for this.
- I kept adding butterflies to the cupcakes, playing around with the sizes and colors.
The end result? Pretty awesome, if I do say so myself! The cupcakes looked super fancy and delicate, like something you’d see in a bakery window. My friends were seriously impressed, they thought I had bought them. It was a fun little project, and I definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re into baking and want to add a little something extra to your treats.
It is worth mentioning that the butterflies do not have any special flavor on their own. They are made of edible wafer paper, their main function is to decorate.
Tips
Don’t fold them too hard or they might break. And don’t let the frosting be too wet, or the butterflies might get soggy.
That’s all there is to it! It was a fun, easy, and rewarding little baking project. Plus, who doesn’t love butterflies, right? Go give it a shot and impress your friends with your fancy cupcake skills!
In general, it was a good experience, and I will do it again.
