Okay, today I’m gonna try to make a gingerbread house. I saw someone make one the other day, and it looked kinda fun, so let’s see how this goes!
First, I needed a gingerbread mold. I didn’t have one on hand, so I just grabbed one off the internet, no big deal. Once that arrived, I was ready to start.

Getting the Dough Ready
I started by grabbing all the ingredients I needed. This included a bunch of flour, some baking soda, a good amount of ground ginger, some cinnamon, and a dash of nutmeg. I figured these were pretty standard for gingerbread, so I just eyeballed the amounts – I like to live dangerously, haha!
I then melted some butter in a pot, I mean, a medium-sized one, because you know, butter makes everything better. Once it was all melty and nice, I mixed it with some sugar in a big bowl. I used a paddle attachment because it seemed like the thing to do. Then, I cracked an egg in there and added some molasses. I also found something called Golden Syrup and thought, “Why not?” It looked interesting, so I tossed some of that in too. Gotta make it fancy, right?
Mixing and Rolling
After mixing all that gooey stuff together, I slowly added in the dry ingredients, little by little, mixing as I went. Soon enough, I had a pretty solid dough.
Next, I sprinkled some flour on my counter so the dough wouldn’t stick, and I started rolling it out. I tried to get it to the right thickness, like, not too thin, not too thick, just like cookie dough. This took a bit of elbow grease, I won’t lie.
Baking the Pieces
Once the dough was all rolled out, I sprayed the gingerbread mold with some cooking spray so it was nonstick. I blotted any extra oil with a paper towel, just like some chef’s instructions I remembered. It is said that this can help get rid of excess oil. Then, I carefully pressed the dough into the mold, making sure to fill in all the little details. It’s all about the details, folks!
Then, I popped the whole thing in the oven. I set the temperature to what I usually use for cookies and waited. This was the hardest part, just waiting and hoping I didn’t mess it up.
Assembly
After what felt like forever, the timer went off! I carefully took the mold out and let the gingerbread pieces cool. They smelled amazing, by the way, just like Christmas.

Once they were cool enough to handle, I gently removed them from the mold. Luckily, they came out pretty easily. Phew! Then came the fun part – assembling the house! I used some frosting as “glue” and stuck the pieces together. It was a bit tricky, but I managed to get it standing. I even added some extra decorations with the leftover frosting and some candies.
In the end, it actually looked like a gingerbread house! It wasn’t perfect, of course, but I was pretty proud of myself. It was a fun little project, and I’d definitely try it again sometime. Maybe next time I’ll get even more creative with the decorations. Who knows!
- Tip: Don’t be afraid to experiment with flavors!
- Tip: Make sure your dough is chilled, or else the dough will not be rolled out!
- Tip: Have fun with it! It’s just a gingerbread house, after all.
Alright, that’s all for my gingerbread adventure. Hope you enjoyed my messy, but fun experience! Catch you in the next one!
