Well, hello there! Today, I’m gonna tell ya how to make this here cinnamon sugar donut sweet bread. It’s real good, ya know? My grandkids, they just love it. Always askin’ for it, bless their hearts. So, I figured, why not share it with y’all?
First off, you gotta get your stuff together. That’s the most important part, see? You need flour, yeah, the white kind. And sugar, of course, the white kind again, and some brown sugar too, for that extra somethin’. Then you need some eggs – gotta be fresh, ya hear? – and some milk. Oh, and don’t forget the butter! Real butter, not that fake stuff. And cinnamon, lots of cinnamon, ‘cause that’s what makes it taste so darn good.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- For the topping: 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Now, the first thing ya gotta do is get that oven goin’. Heat it up to 350 degrees, that’s what the recipe says. While that’s heatin’ up, you start mixin’ the dry stuff. That’s the flour, the sugar, the bakin’ powder and soda, and the salt. Just dump it all in a big bowl and stir it up good with a spoon. Nothin’ fancy, just mix it up till it looks all mixed together.
Then, in another bowl, you mix the wet stuff. That’s the eggs, the milk, and that melted butter. Whisk it up good, until it’s all foamy and light. Make sure the butter ain’t too hot, or you’ll cook them eggs!
Next, you pour the wet stuff into the dry stuff and stir it up real good. Don’t overmix it, though. Just stir it until it’s all wet and there ain’t no dry flour left. Then, you add the cinnamon. Stir that in real good too. You want that cinnamon flavor all through the bread, see?
Now, you gotta grease up a loaf pan. I just use some butter, smear it all over the inside of the pan. Then, you pour that batter into the pan and spread it out even. Put it in the oven and let it bake for about 50-60 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when you stick a toothpick in the middle and it comes out clean.
While that’s bakin’, you can make the topping. Just melt some butter and mix it with sugar and cinnamon. Easy peasy, right? When the bread is done, you take it out of the oven and let it cool for a bit, maybe 10 minutes or so. Then, you brush that melted butter mixture all over the top of the bread. Don’t be shy, now! Pile it on good! Let it cool a little more, then slice it up and eat it.
It’s so good, ya know? Soft and sweet, with that warm cinnamon flavor. Perfect with a cup of coffee in the mornin’, or a glass of milk in the afternoon. My grandkids, they like it with ice cream, too. Kids these days, always wantin’ somethin’ extra. But hey, it’s good that way too. You can eat it however you like, it’s your bread!
So, there you have it. My cinnamon sugar donut sweet bread recipe. It’s easy to make, and it tastes like heaven. Try it out, and let me know what you think. I bet you’ll love it just as much as my grandkids do. And if you don’t, well, more for me!
