Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another kitchen experiment. Today, we are making something sweet and salty – chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels. I saw some folks talking about these online, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”
So, I grabbed the ingredients first. Really, you only need four things. I picked up some pretzels, peanut butter, chocolate chips, and a little bit of shortening. I used what I found in my local store, nothing fancy.

First, I took a bunch of pretzels and laid them out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Then I started melting the chocolate. I put the chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl and zapped them in 30-second bursts, stirring after each time. It took a few rounds to get it all smooth and melty.
While the chocolate was doing its thing, I scooped some peanut butter onto each pretzel. I just used a regular spoon for this – nothing special. You can use as much or as little peanut butter as you like. I like mine with a good dollop.
Now comes the fun part – dipping the pretzels. I filled a bowl with the peanut butter-topped pretzels. One by one, I dropped a pretzel into the melted chocolate. I got myself a pair of chopsticks, which worked great. I used one chopstick to kinda spear a pretzel from its hole and flipped it in the chocolate. Then I fished it out and placed it back on the parchment paper to set.
It was a bit messy, but pretty fun to do. After dipping all the pretzels, I stuck the whole tray in the fridge to let the chocolate harden. This took about 15-20 minutes, just enough time to clean up the mess I made.
- Prep Time: About 5 minutes.
- Chocolate Melting Time: Around 2-3 minutes.
- Assembly Time: Roughly 5 minutes.
- Chill Time: 15-20 minutes in the fridge.
Taste Test
Once they were set, I tried one. The combination of the crunchy, salty pretzel, the creamy peanut butter, and the sweet chocolate was pretty awesome. It’s a great snack if you’re into that sweet and salty vibe. But I gotta say, these things can be loaded with sugar and fat, so it’s not exactly a health food. Probably best to enjoy them in moderation.
Overall, it was a fun little project, and the chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels turned out pretty tasty. Give it a try if you’re looking for an easy treat to make. That’s it for today’s kitchen adventure. Catch you all next time!
