Okay, so I wanted to get back into baking, and I needed some piping bags. I used to use the canvas ones all the time back when I worked in a bakery, so I figured I’d stick with what I know.
I went online and started looking around. There are so many options now! Disposable, reusable, different materials… it’s a lot to take in. I saw some folks talking about the disposable ones, saying they’re not great.

- They say disposable bags tend to split and bulge.
- Disposable bags can’t really hold the pressure when you’re squeezing them hard.
Not to mention they’re not exactly eco-friendly. And honestly, they can get pretty pricey if you’re using them a lot. Then I remembered how much I liked the canvas bags from my bakery days.
I know some people prefer disposable, especially in commercial kitchens, but I’ve always been a fan of the reusable ones. I mean, if you’re making things like piped cookies or choux pastry, you really need something sturdy. So, I decided to go with canvas again.
I found a decent set online, ordered them, and they arrived pretty quickly. The first thing I did was give them a good wash. I boiled them for about ten minutes. After that I hung them out to dry.
Once they were dry, I tested them out with some buttercream frosting. They felt just like the ones I used to use! They were strong, didn’t leak, and gave me a lot of control over the piping. I made a beautiful rose pattern. Now, I’ll probably keep using it.
I felt I did a good job with it. I’m glad I went with the canvas bags. They’re reliable, reusable, and they just feel right in my hands. Plus, it’s kind of nostalgic, you know? Brings back good memories of my time in the bakery. All in all, I’m very satisfied with my purchase.
