Okay, so I’ve been trying to get my blood sugar under control, and it’s been a real pain. My doctor told me I needed to cut back on the refined carbs, which basically meant saying goodbye to all my favorite snacks. Crackers were a big one for me – I used to love munching on them while watching TV. But the regular store-bought kind? Packed with white flour and other stuff that just spikes my blood sugar. So, I decided I had to take matters into my own hands and make a healthier version myself.

I started looking for recipes online, but so many of them were either too complicated or used ingredients I’d never even heard of. Then, after some serious searching, I finally found a recipe that seemed pretty simple. It was for whole wheat crackers, and it only needed a few basic ingredients. I figured, why not give it a shot?

Here’s what I did:

First, I gathered all the ingredients. This included whole wheat flour, some salt, a little bit of baking powder, olive oil, and water. Stuff that most people already have in their pantry. Then, I mixed the dry ingredients together in a big bowl – the flour, salt, and baking powder. After that, I poured in the olive oil and water and started mixing everything with a spoon. It was a bit sticky at first, but I kept at it until it formed a ball of dough. I covered the bowl with a towel and let it rest for about 30 minutes.

After the dough had rested, I preheated the oven to 350°F (175°C). While the oven was heating up, I rolled out the dough on a lightly floured surface. I wanted the crackers to be nice and thin, so I rolled it out as thin as I could. Then, I used a pizza cutter to cut the dough into little squares. You could also use a knife or cookie cutters, but the pizza cutter was super easy.

Next, I carefully transferred the squares onto a baking sheet. I didn’t grease the sheet because the dough had enough oil in it already. I pricked each square a few times with a fork – this helps them bake evenly and prevents them from puffing up too much. Then, into the oven they went!

  • Bake for 12-15 minutes: I kept a close eye on them, and after about 13 minutes, they were golden brown and crispy.

I took them out of the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. They smelled amazing, and I couldn’t wait to try them. Once they were cool enough to handle, I broke one off and took a bite. They were crunchy, a little bit salty, and had a nice nutty flavor from the whole wheat flour. And you know what? They were actually really good!

I’ve been making these crackers regularly now, and they’ve become a staple in my snack routine. They’re so much better for me than the store-bought ones, and they’re surprisingly easy to make. Plus, I can customize them however I want – sometimes I add a sprinkle of seeds or herbs for extra flavor. Honestly, I don’t even miss the old crackers anymore. These are way better, and they don’t mess with my blood sugar. If you’re looking for a healthy and tasty snack, you’ve got to try these whole wheat crackers. They’re a game-changer!
