Best Way to Reheat Potato Pancakes: Quick & Easy Guide
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Alright, so I messed up and made way too many potato pancakes the other day. Seriously, I was swimming in them. But hey, waste not, want not, right? So, I went on a mission to figure out the best way to bring these babies back to life. Here’s what I did and what I learned:

The Oven Method – My First Try

Best Way to Reheat Potato Pancakes: Quick & Easy Guide

First, I preheated my oven to 350°F (about 175°C). I figured low and slow would be the way to go. I spread the potato pancakes out on a baking sheet – no overcrowding! – and popped them in. I left them uncovered, thinking that would help them crisp up a bit. After about 10 minutes, I flipped them. Another 5-7 minutes, and they looked okay.

The verdict? They were… fine. Heated through, for sure, but a little on the dry side. The edges had some crisp, but the inside was kinda meh. Not terrible, but not the same as fresh off the griddle.

Microwave – The Quick and Dirty Route

Okay, sometimes you just need food now. So, I grabbed a couple of potato pancakes and nuked them for about a minute. Big mistake. They came out soggy and kinda rubbery. Edible, yeah, but definitely not enjoyable. I wouldn’t recommend this unless you’re seriously starving.

Skillet Revival – Ding Ding Ding! We Have a Winner!

This is where the magic happened. I heated up a non-stick skillet over medium heat with a little bit of oil – just enough to coat the bottom. Then, I placed the potato pancakes in the skillet and let them sizzle for a few minutes per side. I kept flipping them every couple of minutes to avoid burning.

This method worked like a charm! The outsides got nice and crispy again, and the insides stayed relatively moist. They tasted almost as good as the day I made them! I was honestly surprised how well this worked. It took a little longer than the microwave, but it was so worth it.

My Skillet Reheating Tips:

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan. Work in batches if you have a lot to reheat.
  • Use medium heat. Too high, and you’ll burn the outside before the inside heats up.
  • Don’t be afraid of a little extra oil. It helps with the crisping.
  • Flip frequently. This ensures even heating and prevents burning.

The Final Word

So, if you’re looking for the best way to reheat potato pancakes, skip the microwave and go straight for the skillet. You won’t regret it! I’m calling this experiment a success. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go eat some reheated (and delicious!) potato pancakes.
