Okay, so the other day I was making a big batch of sourdough bread, and I was reminded of how much I love my dough scraper metal. I figured I’d share my experience with it!
Getting Started: The Sticky Situation
I used to struggle with sticky dough – like, really struggle. It would get all over my hands, my countertop, everywhere. It was a mess! I’d try to use a spatula, or even just my hands, to get the dough out of the bowl and onto the work surface, but it never went smoothly.

Discovering the Dough Scraper
Then, one day, I saw a video of a baker using a dough scraper. It looked so simple, so efficient. I immediately ordered a metal one with a straight, rectangular blade that has a comfy, secure grip. I will never deal with the hassle of plastic or silicone scrapers, i chose metal!
My First Try: A Revelation!
The first time I used it, I was blown away. Here’s what I did:
- Wetting the Scraper: I dipped the edge of the scraper in a little water. This helped prevent the dough from sticking to it.
- Scraping the Bowl: I used the scraper to gently coax the dough out of the bowl. It came out in one clean piece – no more sticky mess!
- Dividing the Dough: I had to make two loaves, so I used the scraper to cut the dough in half. It was so easy and precise.
- Shaping the Dough: I even used the scraper to help me shape the loaves. It was great for tucking the edges under and creating a nice, smooth surface.
Cleaning Up: A Breeze
And the best part? Cleanup was super easy. I just rinsed the scraper under warm water, and any remaining dough bits came right off. No scrubbing, no soaking – just a quick rinse and it was ready for next time.
Why I Love It
I find my dough scraper to be a simple tool, but it has truly changed my bread-making game!
It’s made the whole process so much cleaner, easier, and more enjoyable. I am so happy for getting it.
