Alright, let’s talk about makin’ apple pie, but not in that big ol’ oven, in that little toaster thingy. You know, the one that sits on the counter? Yeah, that one.
First off, you gotta get yourself some apples. Don’t go buyin’ those fancy ones, just get whatever’s on sale, ya hear? Granny Smith ones, they say, are good and tart, or maybe some of them Honeycrisp if you’re feelin’ fancy. But honestly, any apple will do, just don’t use them mushy ones, the ones that are already goin’ bad, you know? Waste not, want not, that’s what I always say.

Then you gotta peel them apples. Now, I ain’t got no fancy peeler, I just use a knife. Be careful though, don’t wanna cut yourself. I seen folks do that, blood everywhere, ain’t pretty. Once they’re peeled, chop ‘em up into little pieces. Not too big, not too small, just right. Like, you know, bite-sized.
Next, you need some sugar. How much? Well, that depends on how sweet you like it. I usually just dump some in, maybe a cup or so, maybe more if the apples ain’t so sweet themselves. And a little bit of cinnamon, you know, for that warm, cozy feelin’. Maybe a pinch of nutmeg too, if you got it. Don’t go buyin’ it special though, ain’t nobody got time for that. Mix it all up with them apples, make sure everything’s coated nice and good.
- Apples – any kind will do
- Sugar – to your liking
- Cinnamon – for that cozy feeling
- Nutmeg – if you have some
- Maybe a little bit of flour, like a spoonful or two
- And some butter, the real stuff, not that margarine stuff.
Now, for the crust. You can make your own, if you’re one of them fancy bakers, but I ain’t got time for that. I just buy them pre-made ones at the store. The ones in the little foil pan? Yeah, those. Just unfold one and put it in your little toaster oven pan. It don’t fit perfect, but who cares? It’ll bake just fine.
Dump your apple mix into the crust. Spread it out even, so it ain’t all piled up in one spot. Then, if you got another crust, put it on top. Or you can be lazy like me and just crumble some oats on top. Mix the oats with a little bit of brown sugar and some more butter. Makes it kinda crunchy and sweet on top. Baking it in the toaster oven is the easy part. Just set it to, oh, I don’t know, 350 degrees or somethin’ like that. And bake it for, well, until it looks done. How long’s that? I don’t know, maybe half an hour, maybe longer. Just keep an eye on it. You’ll know when it’s done. The apples will be soft, and the crust will be golden brown. And if it ain’t quite done, and the top is getting too brown just cover it with a little bit of that foil stuff and let it bake a little longer so the apples cook through. Don’t want no crunchy apples, unless you like ‘em that way, I guess.
Some folks, they like to put ice cream on top. That Breyers stuff, they say, is real good with apple pie. Makes it “a la mode” or somethin’ fancy like that. I don’t know about that, sounds too cold for my teeth. But you do what you like, it’s your pie after all. And that’s it, that’s how you make an apple pie in a toaster oven. It ain’t rocket science, even I can do it. And if I can do it, anyone can. So go on, give it a try. And don’t forget to share, sharing’s caring, even if it’s just with yourself.
One more thing, make sure you let it cool down a bit before you eat it, or you’ll burn your tongue. I done that before, ain’t fun. And clean up after yourself, don’t leave a mess for someone else to clean up. That’s just common courtesy, you know?
