Baking Honey Gingerbread Cookies: Tips for a Delicious Holiday Season (From Scratch Recipe)

Hi everyone, I want to share my experience making honey gingerbread cookies today. I found a simple recipe and wanted to give it a try. The cookies smelled amazing while baking, and I couldn’t wait to taste them!

First, I gathered all my ingredients. I got out some honey, flour, ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, salt, butter, sugar, and an egg. It seemed like a lot of stuff, but I figured it would all come together nicely.

I started by mixing the dry ingredients. I dumped the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt into a big bowl and whisked them all together. I love the smell of these spices – it really reminds me of the holidays.

Next, I creamed together the butter and sugar in a separate bowl. I used my electric mixer for this because it’s way easier than doing it by hand. Once that was nice and fluffy, I beat in the egg and honey. The mixture looked kind of pale, but I wasn’t worried.

Then, I gradually added the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. I didn’t want to overmix, because I heard that can make the cookies tough. The dough was pretty soft and sticky at this point.

I wrapped the dough in plastic wrap and chilled it in the fridge for about an hour. This was the hardest part because I was so eager to bake the cookies! But I knew it was important to let the dough rest.

After an hour, I took the dough out and preheated the oven to 350°F. I rolled out the dough on a floured surface and used some fun cookie cutters to make different shapes. I had gingerbread men, stars, and even a few reindeer.

I placed the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and baked them for about 8-10 minutes. They were done when the edges were just starting to brown.

I let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. They were so soft and chewy, and the spices were perfectly balanced. The honey gave them a nice sweetness that wasn’t overpowering.

These cookies are seriously delicious. They are great with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee. I think I’ll make them again for Christmas, maybe even decorate them with some icing and sprinkles.
