Wondering about 2 tbsp lemon juice in grams? Learn the simple calculation fast.

Alright, let me walk you through something I did the other day. I was trying out a new recipe, I think it was for some kind of glaze or maybe a dressing, and it called for 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Now, usually I just eyeball it, but this time I wanted to be a bit more precise, maybe track the calories or something, I don’t remember exactly why. Anyway, I needed to know how much that actually weighed in grams.

Getting Started

So, first things first, I went over to the kitchen counter and grabbed my trusty digital scale. It’s nothing fancy, but it does the job. I switched it on.

Then, I needed a small container to hold the juice. Just picked up a little ramekin, one of those small ceramic bowls. Plonked it right onto the scale.

Of course, the scale showed the weight of the bowl, which I didn’t want. So, I hit the ‘tare’ or ‘zero’ button. Super important step, that one. Gets the scale back to showing 0 grams, so it only measures what I add next.

The Measuring Part

Okay, scale ready. Bowl on top, reading zero. I got my bottle of lemon juice out of the fridge. Could’ve squeezed a fresh lemon, but the bottled stuff was easier right then.

Next, I rummaged in the drawer for my measuring spoons. Found the tablespoon measure. Just your standard metal tablespoon.

  • I carefully poured the lemon juice into the tablespoon, trying to get it reasonably full but not overflowing.
  • Then, I tipped that first tablespoon into the little bowl sitting on the scale.
  • Repeated the process. Filled the tablespoon again, nice and level.
  • Poured that second tablespoon into the bowl with the first one.

Checking the Result

With both tablespoons of lemon juice now in the bowl, I looked at the digital display on the scale.

It settled pretty quickly. The number I got was around 30 grams. Maybe it flickered between 30 and 31 for a second, depending on how level those spoonfuls were, you know? But yeah, 30 grams felt like a solid number for 2 tablespoons.

So, that’s what I jotted down in my notes. If you ever need a rough idea, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice comes out to about 30 grams. Worked fine for my recipe, anyway. Close enough for most things I cook.
