Okay, so I’ve been baking a lot more lately, and let me tell you, going through those little bags of flour from the grocery store was getting ridiculous. I felt like I was constantly running out! So, I decided to take the plunge and buy in bulk. We’re talking about a 25-pound bag of all-purpose flour. Yep, you heard that right!
The Hunt Begins
First, I had to figure out where to even get this much flour. My usual supermarket? Nope. They had the 5-pound bags, maybe a 10-pounder, but nothing close to what I needed.

I looked the big-box stores. Ding ding ding! We have a winner.
The Acquisition
I found it! A massive, 25-pound bag of all-purpose flour. I felt like I was preparing for the apocalypse, or maybe opening my own bakery. I hoisted that thing into my cart, feeling like a weightlifter. It was definitely a two-hand operation.
Storage Solutions
Now, the real challenge: where to put this beast. My pantry is not exactly designed for industrial-sized baking supplies. I thought to split the contents.
- Big Plastic Container: I got some airtight, food-grade container. It’s huge, but it keeps the flour fresh and bug-free. I keep the container in the pantry.
- Smaller Container: For everyday use, I scooped some flour into a smaller, more manageable container that fits nicely on my counter.
The Baking Bonanza
I keep the smaller container in my cupboard, refilling from the Big Boy as needed. No more emergency trips to the store because I ran out of flour mid-cookie-baking!
Having this much flour on hand has been amazing! I’ve been baking up a storm – bread, cookies, cakes, you name it. I feel so…prepared. And honestly, it’s way more economical than buying those small bags all the time.
My advice? If you bake a lot, consider going big. Just make sure you have a plan for storing it!
