Okay, so I’ve been on this baking kick lately, and cream puffs are my new obsession. I mean, who doesn’t love a good cream puff, right? But I wanted to take them up a notch, make ’em a little extra special. So, I decided to try my hand at a chocolate topping.
First, I gathered my ingredients. I’m all about keeping things simple, so I went with:

- Semi-sweet chocolate chips (like, a cup, maybe?)
- Heavy cream (about half a cup, I think)
- A tiny pinch of salt (because my mom always says salt brings out the flavor)
Making the Magic Happen
I started by chopping up the chocolate chips. Actually, I didn’t even chop them.I was lazy and just used the chips as they were. No biggie.
Then I heated up the heavy cream in a saucepan. Just until it started to simmer, you know, little bubbles around the edges. Don’t let it boil! That’s a no-no.
Once the cream was hot, I poured it over the chocolate chips in a bowl. Then, I just let it sit there for a minute or two. This lets the chocolate get all melty and nice.
After the waiting game, I grabbed a whisk and started stirring. At first, it looked kinda weird, all separated and oily. But keep going! After a few minutes, it magically transformed into this smooth, glossy, beautiful chocolate ganache. This is where I added that tiny pinch of salt.
The Final Touch
I had my cream puffs all baked and cooled (I used a store-bought mix, don’t judge). Then, I simply dipped the tops of the puffs into the chocolate ganache. You could also drizzle it on with a spoon if you’re feeling fancy,I just like the perfect dip look.
Then put it in the refrigerator to let them chill for at least 30 minutes before serving, which helps the chocolate set up.
And that’s it! Seriously, so easy. And the result? Amazing. The chocolate topping adds this rich, decadent touch that takes the cream puffs to a whole new level. My family went crazy for them. Next time, I might try adding a little bit of coffee to the ganache for a mocha flavor. Ooh, or maybe some peanut butter! The possibilities are endless, and so my experiment continues, wish me luck!
