Okay, here’s my experience with the AC repair in Brea:
Man, it got hot last week! Our old AC unit just couldn’t keep up. It was blowing, but the air wasn’t cold at all. It felt like a hair dryer, not an air conditioner. We were all suffering, me and my kids. First thing I did was check the usual stuff, the easy fixes you know?

Checked the Filter
I pulled out the air filter. It was pretty nasty, completely covered in dust. I thought, “Bingo! This is it!” So, I quickly grabbed a new filter I bought from store, and popped it in. Turned the AC back on… still warm. Darn!
Checked the Breaker
Next, I went to the electrical panel. Sometimes the breaker for the AC trips, especially during a heatwave when everyone’s running their units full blast. I flipped the AC breaker off and then back on, just to be sure. Still no luck. The air coming out was still warm.
Inspecting the Outside Unit
Then I went outside to look at the condenser unit – that big boxy thing that sits outside. It’s easy to be grimy,I gave it a look, but it was not bad. Maybe something was blocking the airflow. I cleared away some leaves and branches that had accumulated around it, just in case. Still, the air inside was stubbornly warm.
Calling for Help
At that point, I gave up. I’m no AC expert, and I didn’t want to mess things up further. So I looked up “brea air conditioning repair” and found a well-reviewed company. I called them, and thankfully, they had a technician available to come out the same day.
The Technician Arrived
The technician, was super friendly. He did a thorough inspection, checking all sorts of things I wouldn’t even know to look at. He checked the refrigerant levels, the capacitor, and a bunch of other electrical components.
After about 30 minutes, he found the problem. It turned out to be a faulty capacitor. Apparently, that’s a common issue, and it prevents the compressor from starting properly.
He replaced the capacitor, and like magic, the cold air started flowing! I have never felt so relieved.

Lesson Learned
- Regular Maintenance: I learned that I should have my AC unit serviced regularly, at least once a year. Preventative maintenance can catch these issues before they become major problems.
- Don’t DIY Everything: It’s okay to try some basic troubleshooting, but when it comes to complex machinery like an AC unit, it’s best to call a professional.
The whole experience was a bit of a hassle, but I’m grateful that we got it fixed quickly. It was a reminder of how much we rely on our AC, especially during those scorching summer days. And I also had a nice chat with the technician. He explained the problems to me, and now, I feel more confident.
