Okay, so I’ve been trying to be a little more mindful of what I’m eating, and that includes checking out the calorie counts on, well, everything. Today, it was the turn of my beloved whole wheat Ritz crackers. I mean, who doesn’t love a good Ritz?
So, I started by grabbing the box. You know, the usual red one, but this one says “whole wheat” on it. I flipped it over to look at the nutrition facts label – that little table that holds all the secrets.

My Cracker Investigation
- First, I checked the serving size. It said “5 crackers”. Five crackers? Okay, I can usually handle that…usually.
- Then, I looked for the calories. Right there, it said 70 calories per serving. Five crackers, 70 calories. Got it.
- Then I check the whole package, it shows 10 servings per container, It means 700 calories per box.
I did a little mental math. If I eat ten crackers, that’s 140 calories. If I eat the whole sleeve… well, let’s not go there. I should eat less.
It’s not groundbreaking stuff, I know, but it’s just one of those little things I’m doing to be a bit more aware of my food intake. It’s surprisingly easy to just munch away without thinking, and those calories can really add up! I figured sharing this might be helpful for anyone else who’s on a similar journey. We’re all just trying to figure this stuff out, right?
