Okay, so, the other day, I saw this thing online about making a “chocolate cake” out of apples. Sounded crazy, right? But I was bored and had a bunch of apples sitting around, so I figured, why not? I’m no expert baker, just so you know, but I like messing around in the kitchen.
The Experiment Begins
First, I grabbed, like, four or five apples. I can’t remember the exact number, to be honest. I peeled them and cut them up into chunks. Then, I put them in a pot with a bit of water and just let them cook down until they got all mushy. It took a while, and I kept stirring so they wouldn’t stick to the bottom.

Once they were all soft, like applesauce, I took the pot off the stove. This is where the “chocolate” part came in.I dumped in a good amount of cocoa powder, I didn’t measure just Eye-balled. And because the apple is sour so I use some suger. I mixed it all together until it was nice and smooth. It actually started to look a little bit like chocolate pudding at this point!
- Apples(I use four)
- Cocoa Powder
- Suger
Baking time
I greased a small cake pan – I think it was a round one, maybe 6 inches? – and poured the apple-cocoa mixture in. Then, I popped it into the oven. I set it to, I dunno, 350 degrees? I just kept checking on it until it looked kind of set.I poked it with a fork, and it came out pretty clean, so I figured it was done.
After I pull the pan out,let it cool down * it getting cold,I take it out and *! It’s better than I thought before!
It wasn’t exactly like a regular chocolate cake, of course. It was more…dense, I guess? And a little bit tart, but in a good way. The cocoa powder definitely gave it a chocolatey flavor, *, it was pretty tasty! I sprinkled a little powdered sugar on top just to make it look a little fancier.
So, yeah, that’s my apple “chocolate cake” story. It was a fun little experiment, and it actually turned out pretty good! If you’ve got some extra apples and you’re feeling adventurous, give it a try. You might be surprised!
