Best Biscuit Recipe with Crisco (Quick & Simple Guide)

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to try making biscuits from scratch for ages. I finally decided to give it a go today, using Crisco because, well, that’s what my grandma always used. Let me tell you, it was a bit of an adventure!

Getting Started

First, I grabbed all my ingredients. I’m talking flour, baking powder, salt, a little sugar (because why not?), Crisco, and some milk. I made sure everything was measured out correctly – I’m not the best at eyeballing things.

Mixing it Up

I dumped the dry ingredients into a big bowl and whisked them together. Then came the fun part – cutting in the Crisco. I used a pastry blender thingy, but honestly, I think my grandma just used her hands. I worked it until it looked like coarse crumbs. It took a little while, and my arm got a bit tired, but I think I got it right.

Shaping and Baking

Next, I dumped the dough onto a floured surface and kneaded it a few times. I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t super confident about this part. I just patted it out until it was about an inch thick, I will get a good shape next time.

Then,I cut the dough into the biscuit, and placed them on the baking sheet, and popped them into the preheated oven.

The Result!

I baked them for what felt like forever (it was probably like 12-15 minutes), and they were done. Golden brown and smelling pretty darn good. I pulled them out of the oven and let them cool for a sec before I took them out.

They were fluffy, a little crumbly, and tasted… well, they tasted like biscuits! I slathered one with butter and jam, and it was perfect. Definitely a win in my book. I might even try adding some cheese next time. Or maybe some herbs? The possibilities are endless!
