Okay, so I needed to figure out how many grams are in 1/4 cup of vegetable oil for this recipe I was trying. Honestly, I always get confused with these conversions!
First, I grabbed my phone and did a quick search. I typed in something like “1/4 cup vegetable oil in grams” and saw a few different numbers pop up.

My Conversion Experiment
I found some info saying that 1 3/4 US cups is about 381 grams of vegetable oil. It also said that it is hard to convert these accurately.
So here’s what I did:
- Weighed the Empty Cup: I put a small, empty measuring cup on my kitchen scale and zeroed it out. This is important so you’re only weighing the oil!
- Carefully Poured: Then, I slowly poured vegetable oil into the cup until it reached the 1/4 cup line. I tried to be super precise about it.
- Checked the Scale: I looked at the scale and it read somewhere around 54-57 grams.
It makes sense because, you know, how tightly packed something is, even the room temperature, can change the weight a little. So, my little experiment might not be perfect science, but it gave me a pretty good estimate for my recipe!
Basically, I’d say 1/4 cup of vegetable oil is roughly 55 grams. Good enough for cooking, I think!
