Okay, so I’ve been craving chocolate cake like crazy lately. And not just any chocolate cake, you know? I wanted that super moist, rich, kinda fudgy chocolate cake. I didn’t want to mess around with a ton of ingredients, so I grabbed a box of milk chocolate cake mix. Let’s see how it went!
Getting Started
First, I preheated my oven. I think the box said 350°F, so I went with that. Gotta have the oven ready to go, right? Then I grabbed a 9×13 inch pan and greased it up. I used that cooking spray stuff – way easier than butter and flour, in my opinion.

Mixing It Up
Next, I dumped the cake mix into a big bowl. I always feel like a little kid doing this part. Then I checked the back of the box for the other stuff I needed: eggs, oil, and water. Pretty standard. I cracked the eggs in (no shells, thankfully!), poured in the oil and water, and then got to mixing.
I used my electric mixer, ’cause I’m lazy. I started it on low just to get everything combined, then cranked it up to medium speed for, like, two minutes. The box said not to overmix, so I tried to be good.
Baking Time!
Once the batter was all smooth and looked delicious, I poured it into the greased pan. I spread it out evenly with a spatula – gotta make sure it bakes evenly, you know? Then, into the oven it went!
- I set a timer. I can’t remember exactly, but the baking time listed on the box was probably around 30-35 minutes.
- I checked at that time, and then used a tooth pick.
Cooling and Frosting (The Best Part!)
When the cake was done (toothpick came out clean – score!), I took it out of the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then I flipped it out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Gotta be patient, even though it’s hard when it smells so good.
For the frosting, I just used a can of store-bought chocolate frosting. Hey, I said I was keeping it simple! Once the cake was totally cool, I slathered that frosting all over it. Mmm…
The Verdict
Finally, time to eat! And oh man, it was good. Super moist, chocolatey, and exactly what I was craving. Using the cake mix was definitely the way to go for a quick and easy chocolate fix. I think next time I might add some chocolate chips to the batter, just to make it even more chocolatey. But yeah, totally recommend this if you need a chocolate cake in your life, ASAP!
