Okay, here’s my blog post about making a flourless chocolate cake in a mug:
So, I’ve been seeing these mug cake things all over the internet, and I finally caved. I mean, chocolate cake in like, five minutes? It sounded too good to be true, but my sweet tooth was demanding I try it. I went with a flourless version because, why not? Less ingredients, sounds easier, right?

Getting Started
First, I grabbed a regular coffee mug. Nothing fancy, just the one I always use. Then, I melted some butter in the microwave. I think I did it for like, 30 seconds? Just until it was all liquidy.
Next, I dumped in the other stuff. I used:
- Cocoa powder (the unsweetened kind, obviously)
- Sugar
- An egg.
- A pinch of salt. Just a tiny bit!
- And some chocolate chips,Because why not add more chocolate?
Mixing and ‘Baking’
I stirred it all together with a fork. It looked kinda gross at first, all gloopy and weird. But I kept mixing until it was smooth, like a thick batter. I made sure to scrape down the sides of the mug so everything was mixed in good.
Then, the moment of truth: the microwave. I zapped it for about 1 minute and 30 seconds. I watched it like a hawk, and It puffed up a lot, which was kinda cool, and I was very worried at one point. It will definitely overflow.
The Result
I took it out (carefully, ’cause the mug was HOT), and I let it cool down for a minute or two. It deflated a bit, but that’s okay. I sprinkled some extra chocolate chips on top, because, again, more chocolate.
And…it was actually pretty good! Seriously. It was rich, fudgy, and super chocolatey. Kind of like a brownie, but softer. It definitely satisfied my *’s still good to eat.
I’m definitely making this again. It’s perfect for when you need a quick chocolate fix and don’t want to deal with a whole cake situation.
