Okay, so I was scrolling through some cooking blogs the other day, and I stumbled upon this thing called “bear brown sugar.” It looked kinda cute and all, so I thought, why not give it a try? I mean, who doesn’t love a little sweetness in their life, right?
First things first, I gathered all the stuff I needed. Just some regular brown sugar, you know, the stuff you’d use for baking cookies or whatever. And then, of course, some cute little bear-shaped molds. I found those online, pretty cheap too.

Next up, I dumped the brown sugar into a bowl. Now, the blogs I read said something about using a bit of water or molasses to help the sugar stick together. But you know what? I just went with my gut and used a tiny bit of water, just enough to make the sugar kinda damp, like wet sand at the beach.
Then came the fun part – packing the sugar into the molds. I used a small spoon to scoop the sugar and pressed it down real firm. You gotta make sure it’s packed in tight, or else the bears won’t hold their shape. It took a bit of time, but hey, no rush, right?
- Scoop brown sugar into the mold
- Press it firmly
- Repeat until the mold is full
After I filled all the molds, I flipped them over onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. This part was a little tricky. I had to tap the back of the molds gently to get the sugar bears out. Some of them came out perfect, others, well, let’s just say they looked a bit… abstract.
The final step was to let the bears dry out. The blogs said to bake them in a low-temperature oven for a few minutes, but I was feeling lazy, so I just let them sit out on the counter overnight. I figured that would do the trick.
The Result
The next morning, I checked on my little sugar bears. And guess what? They were hard as rocks! Well, maybe not that hard, but definitely solid enough to hold their shape. They looked pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself. I popped one in my coffee, and it dissolved just like regular sugar, but way more fun.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure with bear brown sugar. It was a fun little project, and now I have a jar of cute sugar bears to add to my drinks. If you’re looking for a simple and fun way to add some sweetness to your day, you should totally give this a try!
